ASA 9 and Windows 7 64 bit

Are there any known problems running ASA 9.02 with the last
EBF applied under Windows 7 64 bit? Sybase Central crashes
when it tries to open up.

Are you running the 32 or 64-bit version of ASA? If 64, make sure you
have a 64-bit jvm.

There was a late ebf that fixed a problem with sybase central on Win7,
that had to do with themes. If you update to a late ebf, I'll bet it
will work.

Hi Michael,

9.0.2.3951 should be supported on Windows 7 (I am running it myself on
Windows 7 x64) - what kinds of crashes are you seeing?

A 64-bit JVM is not required; the tools are only built for 32-bit and a
32-bit JVM is provided with the software. See "Footnote 6":

Ok, sorry for the misinformation. I assumed you used the system jvm.

Hi Mike,

My support mgr has a Windows 7 64-bit machine, and all our databases are
9.02

She installed the Version 11 Sybase Central on her computer, and manages
everything using that. It works well. Meaning, it opens any V9.02 database
and she can edit them, create databases, or anything.

If she needs to run the DB herself on her computer, she simply
Unloads/Reloads, but usually just uses the local V11 installation to get
around any issues and crashes she was having.

Every server we have (all three) in our company is running V9.02 - but my
workstation is V12 and my support manager's workstation is V11, and we just
connect/manage anything using our V11 or V12 SJCVIEW without any issue.

If your production/servers are running 9.02 - there still is no need for you
to have 9.02 on your development machine.

Creating ASA 9 DSN on 64 bit server running 32 bit ASA 9
I have 2 servers. One is 32 bit and the other is 64 bit. They both have 32 bit ASA 9 running on them. The database is on the 32 bit server (as a network server). I'd like to install an application on the 64 bit server referencing the database on the network server. On the 64 bit server, ODBC data sources is not detecting any ASA 9 drivers. I launched 32-bit ODBC Driver Manager (<windows directory> \SysWoW64\odbcad32.exe) and created a DSN but the application cannot detect it. How can I go round this? Please help. Thanks. Did you create the DSN as a "user" DSN ...

Are there any 32-bit or 64-bit ODBC drivers for ASA 9.0 for Windows OS's available for download?
Hi everyone, I'd like to create a dsn pointing to ASA 9.0 database on a remote server. The local PC does not have any Sybase / ASA product installed. 1. Is it possible to create the DSN on this local PC? 2. If so, where can I possibly get the drivers? 3. Any other information on this will be highly appreciated. Occasional errors with 32-bit Delphi 7 application on Windows 7 64-bit
Hi, I have a 32-bit Delphi 7 application which was deployed on some machines with Windows 7 64-bit. The application occasionally displays errors such as: "Error reading ppDBText37.Border.Color: Invalid property value" or "Error reading Label24.Font.Ch: Property Ch does not exist" (here the name "Charset" was apparently truncated to "Ch") I checked how those properties are declared on the form where the errors occurred, and all seems ok: - First form (where "Error reading ppDBText37.Border.Color: Invalid property value" occurs): ...

SQLA 9.0.2 on 64-bit Windows 7
Hello all - I've installed the 32 bit client of SQLA 9.0.2 on 64-bit Windows 7 and the Sybase client can't find the server (which is running on a 32-bit Windows XP Professional PC) - even with a dblocate.exe 1.1.1.1 (using IP address of server). "No servers found." is the result. This configuration works at my office - just not at a client's. And other PCs running this client on other Windows XP PCs can see the server just fine. Any ideas? We've had a similar problem with Windows 7. First thing would be to check the firewall settings, even temporarily ...

InfoMaker 9.0.1 & Windows 7 64-bit
Can InfoMaker 9 be installed in a Windows 7 64-bit environment and will the reports work? TIA Scott Scott Huerta 3i Infotech (formerly Distinctive Solutions Corp.) Hi Scott; In theory it should work - but IM 9 was never designed for W7 - so you will probably have to install it and give it a try in your environment. I do have IM 11.2, 11.5.1 and 12 working on my W7 machines. However, you have to realize that even in IM's latest release it is still only a 32bit application. Saying that, you will definitely need the 32bit database client driver installed for any DB'...

Can't get Grub working openSUSE 11.3 64-bit with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
First and foremost, I've been an avid Windows user my entire life and know very little to nothing about Linux, hence the reason for the install. I was told by a bud that openSUSE would be a good start, so I decided to just jump right in. Downloaded and got the .iso loaded up on my thumb drive without a problem. Ran through the install without, what I thought, a hitch. Rebooted and the computer booted straight into Windows. I read through a few articles about trying to repair Grub using GParted and I gave it a shot. First went through (what I believe) is the process of reinstallin...

OpenGL 32 bit on Windows 7 64 bit
I have an older OpenGL application using OpenGL 1.4 calls in both software and hardware modes that works fine on 32 bit XP and Win 7 but gives me issues with color depth on Windows 7 64bit. There aren't any errors but it displays fewer colors when it draws to the screen than when it draws to a bitmap. The AMD driver has the screen display set to 32bit color and when I step through the GL context creation whether for HW or SW everything appears correct with the PixelFormatDescriptor set to 8bits per color. GetDeviceCaps confirms that the screen DC is set to 32bit. I'...

D2009E 32 bits and Windows 7 64 bits
Hello. I've now installed my D2009E 32 bits version on my new PC which has Windows7 24 bits. Since my customers not yet are on 64 bits I would prefere not to use a 64 bits version of Delphi, which I expect will raise some surprises when porting the application to my customers 32 bits XP. With my first application project ported from my XP 32 bits PC and with Delphi20009E running I get a popup message with this text: bds.exe-bordbk120N.dll Assertion Failure "C!"SetThreadContextfailed")" in ..\win32 src\thread32.cpp at line 434 Continue Execution? Windows 7 and Delphi 7, 32 or 64 bit?
I am in the process of getting a new PC and these days there is a choice between 32 and 64 bit operating system (Win7). I have both Delphi7 Pro and BDS2006, where most of my work tends to still be done in Delphi 7. My question now is: Does Delphi 7 work correctly in Windows 7 x64 or do I have to install the 32 bit version in order to work with Delphi 7? This is about the IDE, not programs created with Delphi, which I already know work fine in Win7x64. I am worried about the impact of new security measures in Win7 and incompatibilities between the Delphi7 debugger and Win7x64..... Bo ...

[Windows 7] Benefit of 64-bit vs 32-bit (?)
I'm contemplating getting Windows 7 (for various reasons I'd rather not discuss here), and am wondering whether to go 64-bit or 32-bit. My current machine runs a Gigabyte GA-M55plus-S3G (rev_1_0) mainboard, 2 GB RAM, and soon to have a Seagate ST32000641AS (2TB) hard drive. I'm not a gamer (at all), and other than database work (MS Access) and photograph hoarding, I'm pretty much an "average" Windows user. -- Any thoughts appreciated. tbl On 8/22/2010 5:02 PM, tbl wrote: > I'm contemplating getting Windows 7 (for various reasons I'd &g...
