Transfering Metadata from PD Rep to Business Objects Rep.

Hi All,
I had a utility that allowed incremental update from
Metaworks repository to a business objects universe. I've
used this many times to create/maintain BO universes for IWS
implementations.

I've tried to replicate this tool under PD with no luck.
I've been advised I should use the PD APIs to get to
powerdesigner repository rather than read it directly via
ODBC.

Does anyone have any sample C++ code that accesses the PD
repository directly to do things like extract the table
names, column names, descriptions etc? Perhaps just looping
through the entire repository and exposing the
tables/columns etc?

What I am hoping to write is a C++ program that looks at PD
rep and BO rep and transfers help text from the PD rep to
the BO rep thus saving us the trouble of retyping help text
in BO.

Any assistance welcome.

Best Regards

I don't think you will find too much help out there, Peter. What you are
wanting falls well under the classification of "advanced programming".
However, I think you should be able to use ODBC queries to find the
information in the Repository you want. There won't be any benefit (AFAIK)
to use the APIs. Can anyone correct me here?

I have many queries we use to help manage our PD repository.
I use MS Access to create the queries and reports. The
queries are called "Pass Through" queries that use an ODBC
connection to the Oracle PD Repository tables. I have
created a free model that helps describe my queries. The
model also shows how PD stores the logical models within the
tables. I have attached the free model.

Maximum rep agents per rep server

My guess is that this depends on the OS and hardware, network bandwidth, and amount of activity of each rep agent - i.e. "it depends".
