Hi all!!! Can any body help me with some information or docs about Sockets with Power Builder. I'm Working with PB 6.5, but if you have an example in PB 7 I can use it. Now I'm waiting for your help. :-)

If you mean three-tier apps, pb has it's own communication objects (transport, connection). DPB was removed in PB8 - you can't write a server (listener) with it. We have used the Winsock control that I believe comes standard with IE 4+. It's kind of kludgey though. We were trying to write maintenance software that could reply to what was essentially a ping sent across the broadcast address. It worked fine except that our routers prevented the broadcasts from traveling to the remote sites and punching holes wasn't an option. There's a lot of catches in using the control but it is decently documented across the net. There's a lot of handshaking and error checking that has to be done for the winsock control to be reliable so, if there's any other way to do what you need to do, then do it that way instead. Unfortunately, it appears I've scrapped all the source from that project. If worse comes to worse, give me a yell personally and maybe I can dig something up. Hi again!! What I need Is to create a server that listen the signal of a telefonic call. When the server "catch" the signal, I have to pass the phone number to another application that will be waiting for the data. Have you ever seen an application that do what I need? I need you guide me, I need information about sockets in PowerBuilder 6.5. Thankyou

socketwrench They have 2 versions, a free one and one that costs 100 or so. www.catalyst.com I have used both, decided on buying the one since it was only 100.00. Can someone help me please. I am using PB7 Build 8033 and Excel 97 SR1 I have a spreadsheet which has 1 chart "graph", and 2 sheets "Model" and "Calculations". There are also 7 macros in module 1. I am trying to use OLE Automation to link to the spreadsheet, I need to populate some cells, run some macros and retreive some cells. Modify Expression Editor
How about improving on the Modify Expression Editor a bit? We have some quite complicated expressions, and the tiny little MLE control that PB uses to allow us to edit expression is very clumsy (and yes, I do realize about the elipse to bring up the modal Modify Expression window - which contains an only slight less tiny MLE for editing the Expression). Not to mention that embedded Returns in the expression can cause the computed field to behave funny. How about a real editor, complete with color markups, support for indentation and carrage returns, AutoScript even! Oooh,...

Hi, (1) I need to make a powerbuilder app. to act as a server which can listen to client messages on a known port number and (2) than once the message comes in , it needs to send back the acknowledgement to the same client.
