Hi:
I suggest that PowerBuilder support XML.If PowerBuilder have XML function
or component,it will be much better than Delphi!

I agree. With the database world increasingly dominated by XML, I find that
searching the (beta) help files for PB8 there is not a single mention of
XML, like this has passed by the folk at Sybase. What we need, at the
very least, is a datawindow to output XML and accepts XML as input. I guess
we will have to wait for PB9 now

You can still use the M$XML COM stack but your right, the blind eye to XML
was a bad call.

Do realize that the feature list for PB8 (mostly voted for by the user
community) was finalized almost 18 months ago -- at that point, XML was not
a 1/10th of the hype it is today.

That being said, I agree with you -- there are other options to utilize XML
in your applications, even if there is no built-in support.

I'd argue XML is quite a bit more than "hype" these days.

Roy's got an excellent point, but it's understated. Almost 24 months
ago, at TechWave 1999 (in LA), they were showing a "late alpha"
version of PB8. Tack on lead in time for development, and the feature
list for PB8 was built *quite* some time ago.

Now, given the choice of having Sybase chase after new requirements a
significant way into the development cycle of the product, or freeze
the feature list and build a solid, "stable" product.... Personally,
I'll wait for XML. <g>

Just adding my two cents.

XML in Powerbuilder
Is there functionality in Powerbuilder 7 or 8 for XML? Where could I find out more about it? There is no built-in XML support in PB7 or 8. PB9 will feature an XML parse and XML export/import support in the datawindow/datastore.
