How to select manually an item (make it currently selected) in DDDW?

Hi all,

I have a DDDW which auto-retrieves the relevant data for a drop-down
inside a datawindow. After the datawindow is loaded I want to manually
select a certain data/display in the DDDW.

Does anyone know how to achieve this? Please drop some sample if you
have any.

Thanking you for your time,

Best regards,
A

Do a setitem on the base column to the data value for the row in the DDDW
that you want.

Hi Jerry,

Thanks a lot for your response.

Just to clarify, you meant I should do a '<DDDW_control>.setitem( row,
"data_column OR display_column", "code value OR display value" )'.?,
where I am not sure about which one to use in the OR?

Please clarify.

Thanking you for your time and support.

The DDDW is the edit style of a column. The data column of the DDDW contains
values that will actually be stored in the column; the display column
contains the corresponding value the user will see in the dropdown.
So if you had a DDDW with the following data and display values for the
column customer_state
AK Alaska
AL Alabama
AR Arkansas
AZ Arizona
etc
and you wanted Arkansas, you would code
SetItem (row, 'customer_state', 'AR')

Hi Jerry,

I just gave it a try, and am getting a bit annoyed with this stuff
(can't believe I was stuck on it for more than 1 day and still is). It
just didn't work. Please find below a sample code I used.

/*****************/
//"dw_1" is my datawindow on which there is a DDDW whis is
representing the column called "code" on the dw_1 column.

DataWindowChild lw_child
dw_1.getchild( "code", lw_child )
lw_child.setitem( 4, 'status_code', '0000N') //where 4 is the row on
which I have got the status_code=3D0000N and display value=3D"New Claim"
lw_child.setredraw( true ) // I added this, thinking that by redrawing
the DDDW it would work.
/*****************/

I would really appreaciate any help/tips/tricks.

Thanking you for your time,

Best regards,
A

That code resets the row in the DDDW which matches 000N to 'New Claim'
You don't need a GetChild, just
dw_1.SetItem(row, 'code', '000N') // row in dw_1 where you want to see New
Claim
then when you activate the dropdown it should be positioned on that row

The only issue is that when I use the lbNew.Items.FindByValue(...).Selected = True line, no default select is made. The listbox just defaults to the first item in the list.lbNew = New DropDownList ' Scans for the list source. ' If "values_table" returns the first character = '@', ' then a table is the datasource. strDataSourceTable = Nothing strDataSourceTable = objDataReader.Item("values_table") ' If there is a data list, display the item, else ig...

Am I missing something? Any Ideas?   Thanks,   Do you mean something like this  ? Home>>Messages    wh...
