DW Export error, "Fatal disk error, retry?"

I am using PowerBuilder 7.0.3.10213 to compile the program, but I find an
error at the exe program.

When I try to export the data from datawindow using

dwcontrol.SaveAs ( { string filename, saveastype saveastype,
	boolean colheading } )

there will be an error

Window Title: Library Manager
Error Message: Fatal disk error, retry?
Buttons: Retry, Cancel

The same set of program run at a machine do not have this problem, but when
I copy it to another machine the problem occurred.

Do anyone know how and what causing this kind of problem? And how can I fix
it?

Do you have virus scan enabled and checking on that file extension?

There is enough space in harddisk and it is more than 1G. One thing is the
program files are placed at a mapped drive and the data will export to
local drive, i.e. c:\temp\

Almost the same environment, but OS is different. The machine at
development is Win2K but the deployment machines are Win98. Server are the
same and it is the win2K server. Any Ideal?

But it is not always the error. Sometimes, the compilation will not have
problem.

There is no antivirus scanner at the server.

Will this problem related to the windows security?

First thing to do is cover the basics, like maybe the disk really has
problems. A disk checking utility like Chkdsk is likely in order. It's
most likely that this is just PB relaying a failure message from the
OS.

Good luck,

Is the file in use by another program?
Is the file read-only?
Does the user have security rights to the directory the file is going to?
Does the directory you wrote to on the first machine exist on the second
machine?

This error msg is misleading.
I have seen similar errors when the machine looses netwrok connectivity.

I found the problem. When the dw export the data into file, it will also
change the program path. Due to the program do not include the program
path itself. It will have problem. So I fix it like that

1. Include the program path
2. keep the current program path
3. export the dw into file
4. change back to the backup program path

New Error Messages: "Invalid dw row: R" "Invalid dw col: C"
I would like two new Error Messages for the DataWindow. Since PB1, we have had the message: "Invalid datawindow row/column in line ... of object ..." This message is good, and could be better. I would like, instead, to have the datawindow check the row, and if it is invalid, report: "Invalid DataWindow(DO) Row: R in line ... of object ..." (where R=the actual row number requested, and DO=DataObject Name). If the row is valid, then it would check the column, and if invalid, report: "Invalid DataWindow(DO) Column: C in line ... of object ..." (...

New Error Messages: "Invalid dw row: R" "Invalid dw col: C" #2
Since PB 1, we have had the message #1: "Invalid datawindow row/column in line ..." I suggest we break this into two messages. If the row is invalid, then give message #2: "Invalid datawindow row: R in line ..." where R is the row number requested. If the row is valid, then if the column is invalid then give message #3: "Invalid datawindow column: C in line ..." where C is the column name or number requested. I think these two new messages would be more helpful than the existing one message, because: 1) Message 2 would instantly tell you th...

"Error on page" error?
Hello, I have recently set up Webaccess and it seems mostly to behave ok, at least when accessing it internally (on the LAN) but when accessed remotely, two things occur: Sometimes, when clicking on any of the links, I will get a "page not found" error. Then if I reload the page, it will load quite happily. The more annoying thing, though, is when I click on "Compose ...", Search Address Books" or "Search in Mailbox" I get a message on the status bar that says "Error on page" and nothing loads. I found nothing in the KB on this one...

Pls change msg "Fatal disk error"
Hi, We regularly have customers that get a "Fatal disk error", and have their disks examined, while this is most of the time a networking-problem, When a customer gets this message, he calls his hardware-vendor and the hardware-vendor assumes (correctly i think) that the harddisk is not OK.... is it possible to change the message to "Network or disk error" of even better: When the resources are not on a physical local disk, just display "Network error". Thanks Harry AFAIK, that message comes from the operating system. PB is just relaying...

The famous "General network error. Check your network documentation." error message
Been struggling with this one for a while. It seems to be a popular topic of discussion in several forums, however, all suggested fixes have failed to work for me. I've tried setting POOLING=FALSE. I've also tried setting CONNECTION RESET=FALSE. Although both of these have allowed me to keep a connection open for slightly longer, after a while I would get the familiar "General network error. Check your network documentation." error message. It seems that, in general, SQL 7.0 / ADO .NET does not like it when you keep connections open for more than a half hour, even if you are c...
