DBMS MSS (Msoft) SQL Server 6.0 not supported in current ins
I've created a roaming profile with a shortcut to Powerbuilder which is
installed on a network server.
when I use it at my workstation, everything is ok,
when I go to a workstation in our whse I get
'DBMS MSS (Msoft) SQL Server 6.0 not supported in current installation '.
under the database profile the 'MSS sql 6.x ' driver option is listed but when I
try to create a new profile I still get 'DBMS MSS (Msoft) SQL Server 6.0 not
supported in current installation '.
I had this before when I got a new computer, I think a just copied some .DLL's

We have two SQL Server 2000 database servers. I have no problem to connect
serverA through MSS MS SQL Server 6.X. But I cannot connect to serverB
through MSS MS SQL Server 6.X.
I tried to connect to serverB through ODBC. It is connected well, but there
was error message said "Catalog tables could not be created and are not
available for use."
My PowerBuilder version is 7.0.2 and build 8046.
...OLE DB vs. MSS MS SQL Server 6.x to MSS 7.0 DBMS
I'm looking for info on the pros and cons of using OLE DB to connect to a MSS
7.0 database compared to using the native database driver.
I've tried it both ways, and they both seem to work for client our client server
apps. It seems as though the native MSS 6.x driver is easier to configure. And
we appear to be able to read and write data OK. Are there any gotchas lurking
out there? Can anyone provide a reference?

Is it possible PB 6.5 using "DBMS=MSS (Msoft) SQL Server 6.0" to connect MS
The existing application is PB6.5 using "DBMS=MSS (Msoft) SQL Server 6.0" to
connect MS SQL 2000. It is work fine.
AFAIK .. it should work. The only restrictions would be
1) PB 6.5 will not understand SS2005 functionality. You will be restricted
to the SS 6.0 (as you are today with SS2000) feature set.
2) The MSS setting connects using the NTDBLIB.dll from MS. I do not believe
that this is supplied with SS2005. So you will need to install the SS20...Powerbuilder 6.x connectivity to ODBCJT32.DLL (ver 4.x)??
I'm using PB 6.x and having problems connecting to datasources that use
ODBCJT32.DLL (ver 4.x). If the odbcjt32.dll file is replaced with an older
version (ver 3.5x) then it works fine. Is there a way around this
connectivity issue without replacing the file? Is there a section in the
PBODBC60.INI file that can be added to help...and if so, does anyone have
that information? Are there other issues to be concerned about?
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Using "Generic Server" as Server Class solved the problem but I don't

I am using Power Builder 7.0 with SQL Server 2000

field. It is allowing me enter and save 450 characters but
when I retrieved the data it is truncating it to 255

there. Why it is truncating the data on retrieve? Please
help me out if anybody knows the solution

It typically means you didn't deploy the pbmssXX.dll (XX being 60,70,80)
with your application. It must be in the same directory as the application
or alternatively you need to set the App Path entry in the registry. See

...MSS Microsoft SQL Server 6.x
I am using PB8. We are upgrading our servers to use the
latest PB8 DLL's. When we upgrade, I get the "MSS Microsoft
SQL Server 6.x is not supported" msg. If I create a folder
on my computer, put the exe and pbd's as well as the new
dll's in there - everything runs OK. WHat could be going on?
You are missing either the database interface dll , pbmss80.dll, or the
MSS client software is not on the path.
