Creating DLLs using Visual Objects for use in PowerBuilder

Hi All,

Has anybody created a DLL with visual objects in Power++ ?

< ---- Part of this post contains text (modified) from an earlier post
of mine ---- >

I have run into the following problem on this.

1. 	I open a new project
2. I add a new DLL target (and delete the EXE)
3. I add a plain form Form1 (since the default Form1 is deleted by
deleting the EXE)
4. I add a new File test.cpp to the target, and in that the only
statements I add is
	#include "form1.hpp"

I Run->Build File at this stage and I get the following compile error in
Form1.Hpp

Syntax error before 'WForm'; probable cause: incorrectly spelled type name.
Included from C:\Program
Files\Powersoft\Power20\PROJECTS\Testdll\Test.Cpp(1).
class __Form1_declspec __Form1_Base : public Wform

I have also tried to include "WRes.hpp" in step 4, with no success.

I have run into other related situations, with different errors.

If anybody has any info, I'd surely appreciate it !

TIA

Sury

Create NVO using Power Designer 8.0
Hi, Using Power Designer 8.0 Object Oriented model you can create a class diagram (or class/NVO) and add methods to it using class diagram GUI .When you select Generate Power Builder option from menu it will create a .sru file in selected directory .Using this .sru you can import this file in PB environment and create a NVO. But I could not add arguments/parameters to the methods I created in the class using Power Designer 8.0. Can anybody post how arguments can be added to the methods using Power Designer 8.0 Regards, -------------------------------------------- Sudheer Kondla (W...

When to use ( and when to use ((?
I'm just not getting it. When do you use ( in a statement, when do you need to use ((, and is the space after either or both mandatory? For example, I coded this statement: if (( $_ eq $bad_guys_ip )) { more_stuff_here }; Why the two (( in an if? And why does it seem to not work when I miss the space after the ((? Thanx! Objects created at runtime Vs. Objects created using IDE
Hello, Is it possible to replace objects created using Delphi/IDE by objects created at runtime? For example: in the code below, UNewPanel declares TNewPanel. In Unit1, a TNewPanel called NP is created in Form1.Create at runtime (strangely, it's not visible). Is there anyway to replace (or assign or associate) Panel1 and NP so that the new properties, methods, etc. become available in Panel1? If this is possible it helps so much, since we can use Delphi/IDE to position correctly the objects and after that we can apply our new propeties, methods, etc. Thanks. {code} unit UNewPanel; ...

Using Using
I have just completed reading a chapter in my book on performance. The books says to speed up performance on your web site you should use the using statement when opening connections. My question is how do you catch errors if you are using this as apposed to a try catch block.thanksBryan  Why would you use it as an alternative to a try/catch statement. Couldn't you just do something like  public void UsingSomeMethod() { try { SomeMethod(); } catch(SomeException e) { /// do something useful }}public void SomeMethod() { using (Something) { ...

Is there any way to distinguish DWC wich is empty, created using SetFullSatate() and created using Create(syntax) ? Creating visual objects on a PB form using .NET assembly logic.
Using PB11.5 I have successfully referenced a .NET assembly to display separate forms, but I haven't quite figured out how to, or if it's even possible to, display visual objects. Would it be possible to draw a button or datawindow on an existing PB form from within a referenced .NET assembly? I think i'm talking in circles kind of, but any clarification would be appreciated. ...
