Pocket PowerBuilder blob problem from ianywhere.public.chinese.general

I'm posting on behalf of a customer in
ianywhere.public.chinese.general. I have translated the message will
be redirecting the customer to this thread

A customer is using PocketPowerBuilder 1.5 to develop applications on
Windows CE 4.0 devices. One of the function is to browse pictures in
file directories.

The customer claims that, though PPB claims to not support JPG, under
Windows 2000, using the PictureName picture setting controls he
managed to display pictures normally.

But on Windows CE. these JPG files cannot be properly displayed.

The customer has no problems displaying BMPs, GIFs etc, but either
because of file sizes or other business reasons, neither can be used.

This is how he tries to do:

He stores the picture in ASA using a long data type (I presume long
binary)

then use SELECTBLOB to fetch it out from the database, then use
p_1.SetPicture(lb_photo) -- the result -- can display in Windows but
not in CE.

There are some calls specific to PPB that I cannot answer from the
iAnywhere side. Is it a way to solve this problem?

Thanks!

OK

What you need to do if its a JPG is to get the Blob from the DB then write
it out to a temp .JPG file and then set the picture control....

IF parent.p_1.SetPicture(lb_pic) < 0 THEN
 //Picture is a .JPG associated so needs to be written to temp file
ll_flen = Len(lb_pic)

 IF IsNull(ll_flen) or ll_flen = 0 THEN
  RETURN
 END IF

 // Determine how many times to call FileWrite
 IF ll_flen > 32765 THEN
     IF Mod(ll_flen, 32765) = 0 THEN
     li_loops = ll_flen/32765
     ELSE
     li_loops = (ll_flen/32765) + 1
     END IF
 ELSE
     li_loops = 1
 END IF

 li_FileNum = FileOpen("ia_pic_temp.jpg",&
         StreamMode!, Write!, Shared!, Replace!)

 cur_pos = 1

 // Write the file
 FOR li_sub = 1 to li_loops
   ll_bytes_write = FileWrite(li_FileNum, BlobMid(lb_pic, cur_pos,
cur_pos+32765))
   cur_pos+=32765
 NEXT

 FileClose(li_FileNum)

 parent.p_1.picturename = "ia_pic_temp.jpg"

END IF

General problems working with blobs
Hi, I 've got a problem, and I would be very grateful if anyone might be able to contribute any insights. My app needs the capacity to store, retrieve and edit BLOBS of all sorts (images [bmps,jpgs,etc.] movies, WordPerfect reports, etc., etc.). I would like users to be able to as easiliy access blob data (view, play, etc.) as any other data, and just as easiliy modify it. As a solution, I: 1) Created an OLE column in my table(SQLAnywhere) and placed this in my DW. 2) Since I want the user to change the blob data easily, I created another dw (dw variable) and made it equal to...
