Adobe and OLE/OCX
I have inserted an OCX control for Adobe Reader 6.0 onto my PB window and it's working fine for now. But I understand from the Adobe User Forum that Reader 7.0 will no longer support this. And I actually don't need OCX support and would rather connect to Adobe Reader as an OLE Object that I connect to via ConnectToObject(). Is this possible? Are these two entirely different technologies? Thanks for any help.

I know that Adobe Reader 7.0 doesn't support an OCX/ActiveX control, but does that mean that I also can't connect to it via OLE and ConnectToObject()? I'm confused on this point. Even though Adobe no longer supports an ActiveX control for Reader (as opposed to Acrobat), Adobe's Interapplication Communication Overview for their 7.0 products notes: "Adobe Reader does not support OLE automation, except for the PDF browser controls provided in the AcroPDF object." PDF browser controls would be adequate for my purposes. I am trying to find the ProgID string for Reader 7.0 that I can use in ConnectToObject (). According to Adobe Documentation, that string for Acrobat is "AcroExch.App", but I can't find it for Reader. Any thoughts on this? Thanks. Have you tried putting a webbrowser control OCX on the page, then using the navigate method to view the PDF ? I have an Adobe PDF Reader OLE OCX control in which I have loaded (via the LinkTo function) a multipage PDF document that I have created with PB's Save Rows As PDF! / GhostScript utilities. The problem is that only the first page of the document is ever displayed. Is there any way to show the remaining pages within the control? Hi, i have created a OCX using VB6 then i'm calling it from PB8 through OLE. A function inside the OCX has a parameter that is set byref. however, after triggering the function from PB, the value from the OCX function is not being sent back.
