Does anyone from Sybase actually read these newsgroups?

I suspect not, but would be happy to be proved wrong.

Yes from time to time. If you look up a few posts you will see some Sybase posters. If there are Sybase posters they are doing this in their 'spare' time and some times they will have spare time and other times they will not. Most likely they are providing support first to internal support cases which have come from customers opened problems if they happen to be Sybase support people. They may just be new jConnect users like many of those who post

The Sybase newsgroups are intended for users to be able to help other users. In some groups the users are very active. This group primarily has people who post and go about their business maybe missing a hardcore group of posters.

I would use the group if it is useful and open formal problem with Sybase support if it is not.

Newsgroup messages always showing up as unread, but they are actually read.
I apologize if this has been mentioned before, I did a search and did not locate anything. Recently starting using Thunderbird as my newsreader. I have the situation where a number of newsgroups (although all messages are read in them) show as having unread messages when the account is opened and refreshed. Yet when I choose the newsgroup the unread message count disappears and no messages are shown, until that is there actually are unread messages. I have tried unsubscribing and resubscribing to the newsgroup with no success. Thoughts and pointers to information are appreciat...

Has anyone read it?
I've been looking for a review by anyone who's read Carter's new book, SQL Anywhere Studio 9 Developer's Guide. Can anyone point me to where I can find if others have enjoyed this new text? TIA Looks like it hasn't been released yet. On Barnes and Noble, it appears to be listed wrong. (SQL 2000 Anywhere? Huh?) http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=z0s1DvrJMR&isbn=1556225067&itm=1 Amazon has a better price. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1556225067/qid=1086192413/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-5120465-1628133?v=...

Can't "mark all read" when reading newsgroups
It was working fine when I first dl'ed Thunderbird. Now, the option 'mark all read" is grayed out and I can't get it to work. Advice please? Newsgroup read articles still won't stay read.
TB 3.1.10 Has this problem been addressed yet? Rebuilding the data base doesn't work. Deleting the group and re-subscribing doesn't work. Stuff I read yesterday shows up un-read today? It affects all groups and is random. Some articles stay marked as read but most don't. Any ideas? How To Make TB Mark All Messages In Folder Or Newsgroup Read Upon Leaving Folder/Newsgroup
In outlook express there is a setting for causing outlook express to mark all items in a folder or newsgroup as having been read upon leaving that folder/newsgroup (i.e. upon clicking on another folder or newsgroup). I always found that setting very nice because you didn't have to manually mark each folder/newsgroup as read. Is there a way to cause TB to have this same behavior? When I read a newsgroup I have it set to display only unread messages. In the unread messages there will be messages I deliberately choose not to read. I don't want those messages to contin...

Does anyone read the ToS?
I know most people don't read the license agreements they agree to, but does anyone? Some of them are just crazy. For example, the new version of the instant messaging client Trillian has your permission to send copies of your messages to the mothership for them to use. The popular website Facebook "may also collect information about you from other sources, such as newspapers, blogs, instant messaging services, and other users of the Facebook service..." Huh? You can create a whole dossier on me? Why? And why would I allow this? What's even worse is that nobo...

newsgroups marked as read after while
Hello! I haven't seen the following issue mentioned in the groups (or maybe I missed it), and I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem. The problem started with TB 1.5 and it continues with the latest version (1.5.0.4). I run TB on Linux and I created a completely new profile when installed TB 1.5. The same issue occurs with Seamonkey 1.0.x on Windows, again with a fresh profile. So, I guess it is profile and platform independent. I have a few news servers configured. Each time you click on the cross at the left hand side of the news server, on the main window, the l...
