Can datadevices be switched between ASE 12.5.0.2 and 12.5.0.3 ESD4 and back ?
I'm short on disk space and need to see whether 12.5.0.3 ESD#4 fixes a problem I'm seeing with a large db that I'm presently running completely off file based devices. I'd like to try the following, but am not sure whether doing so will really make a mess of things - has anyone done this or something similar: 1. shutdown 12.5.0.2 server 2. copy the 12.5.0.2 servers master and sybsystemprocs device files to somewhere safe (they're relatively small). 3. start the 12.5.0.3 ESD4 server s/w using the same device files used with the 12.5.0.2 server 4. I'm a...

Using 2 connections to 2 ASE-databases using SYC adapative server enterprice driver
Help! I have a problem making 2 ASE database connections in 1 application. I use a default transaction object SQLCA to connect to 1 ASE database and a self-defined transaction object to connect to the other database. It is not possible to save such an application, because when I make a connection in Powerbuilder to both databases via an SYC Adaptive Server Enterprise driver en then save it, the tables of the not active database are not reckognized. When I make a connection via the ODBC driver it works, but other error messages occur. What is the problem with connection to 2 ASE d...

Does SM 2.0.14 use more memory than 2.0.12?
My memory usage runs around 50% now; previously, it was around 40% (using both Task manager and a Google sidebar gadget). The most notable change is the updated Seamonkey. Does the 2.0.14 version use more memory, or have a leak? I'm using a Dell 530 with XP Pro, 4 GB of memory, 3.3 GB available after the video and other allocation. flyguy wrote: > My memory usage runs around 50% now; previously, it was around 40% > (using both Task manager and a Google sidebar gadget). ASE 12.5.2 to ASE 12.5.0.3
Hello, I have to return to ASE 12.5.0.3 from ASE 12.5.2. I created a new server and did a dump/load of a user database and that seems to be fine. Is this a safe way to downgrade ? Is it necessary to create a new server (master database) or should it also be possible to shutdown the 12.5.2 server and start it again with the 12.5.0.3 binary ? Thanks, Luc. ...

Using OLEDB with .Net 2.0 to access ASE 12.5.3 database
Hello all, I'm trying to access an ASE 12.5.3 database from Visual Studio 2005 using C#. On the client side I am running the 12.5.4 drivers. The code looks like this: string connStr; connStr = @"Provider=ASEOLEDB;Server Name=server, port;Initial Catalog=dbname;User Id=userid;Password=password;"; OleDbConnection myConnection = new OleDbConnection(connStr); myConnection.Open(); The program blows up when I hit myConnection.Open() with the error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)) Does anyone know what this means? A Possible fix for Suse 8.0 and ASE 12.5.0.2 (upgrade from 12.5.0.1)
Hi All, I had a similar problem to what a lot of you were experiencing... with regards to glibc issues with ASE and Suse 8.0, and the server not starting. After a lot of reading up, and running stack traces, and various other things to try and get my ASE 12.5.0.1 esd#2 upgraded to 12.5.0.2 esd#1 (and of course ready for when 12.5.0.3 comes out), I came to the conclusion that the 2.2.5-55 and 2.2.5-158 were both not suitable for running 12.5.0.2 (my 12.5.0.1 worked well tho). I found the following article from SuSe... ftp://ftp.is.co.za/linux/distributions/suse/8.0/unsorted...

ASP 2.0/3.5: How to get Visual Studio Web Developer 2008 Express Edition to use ASP.NET 2.0 rather than 3.5?
Hello, my ISP only supports ASP.NET 2.0. I am using VS Web Dev 2008 Express Edition. I have read somewhere that one can set the IDE to 'target' asp.net 2.0 or 3.5. I can't find this setting anywhere on the menu's. How does one do that? The code I am writing works fine so far. I am worried that I may use a 3.5 feature that is not supported. Thus I want to make sure my code is 2.0 compliant before I upload it.RegardsKhalidLondon  You can do this by right click on the project which you want to run as 2.0, and select properties, In properties you can find Target Frame...
