I found several ways to do this on www.irt.org if you want to search there
for details. Try using client scripting and pass multiple parameters, one
for each selected element in the list box.

The problem is I am not only passing the selected element in the list box
but also passing values from a radio button, another dropdown list box
(single select). The element in the list box is Year and its variable (can
increase later). Because of this, I didn't fix the number of retrieval
argument and at the moment using number array, besides that the user can
choose any number of items in the list box. The database column this refers
to is a decimal(4.0).

In my datawindow I have few retrieval arguments, the first one is a number
array (for the selected items in the list box), followed by two string
arguments. I have checked the value in the page-parameter in html datawindow
and it seems it is sending all the years choosen. only that html datawindow
cannot inteprate this into the appropriate retrieval arguments.

I will appreciate if you can provide further info.

Thanks.

Syed.

I just want to know if I pass multiple parameters (dynamically based on
the selected items) how do I set the number of retrieval arguments in
datawindow? For example, if the user selects items 1, 3 and 5, I want to
set dynamically the number of retrieval arguments in datawindow to be 3,
but if the users select item 1,2,3,4 and 5 I want to set the number of
retrieval arguments in datawindow to 5. The same changes also need to be
done at the passed page parameters and retrieval arguments in html
datawindow properties.

Your help much appreciated.

What does your SELECT statement look like? You can use a single array
retrieval argument and use in in your WHERE clause as follows:

SELECT col_1, col_2, ..., col_n
  FROM table_name
WHERE col_x IN (:arg_array)

As I recommended via email, I recommend dynamically adding a where clause
instead of retrieval arguments. This is because you don't know the number
of arguments necessary.

Larry,

This is something I'm interested in doing. You have mentioned using a where
clause instead of ret args. Could you possibly elaborate on how this would
work.

Sure. It could be done in a component, or via Modify method calls in a
server script if you use the HTMLGenerator component. Check out my article
on External DataWindows as criteria screens which uses the HTMLGenerator
component and adds a where clause dynamically.
