Do I need to install datawindow.net on a server?

I tried dw.net in my vb.net development environment and I am very =
pleased with the way it works. Almost no limitations, you can handle the =
DW object the same way as you would do in PB. Good job.=20

The problem is when I deploy my app to a server(win server 2003) I get =
the exception like this:=20
Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: "1124" Key being added:=20
"1124"=20

The problem occurs when this line of code is executed:=20
SQLCA.BindConnection()=20

So my question is:=20
Do I need to install datawindow.net on a server as well.=20

You don't install the full product for a deploy, just some of the
runtime files. They're listed in the documentation.

What database? There's a bug in the MySQL driver that causes an
exception like this.

Do you see anything different if you close the connection after the
retrieve?

P.S. It helps those of us answering questions if you quote some of
the message you're responding to in your response.

I do close the connection, I just did not show that peace of
code.
Anyway, my app crashes before it reaches the close
connection line. it crashes when reaches a line:
SQLCA.BindConnection()

Could this be related to Win 2003 server?

I did the same experiment using VS 2005 and ASP.NET 2.=20

I deployed my web app to a server. It seems that ASP.NET 2.0 validates =
all the dll's placed in app folder and checks dependencies. The moment I =
run the app I get the error(see attached). It seems that VS 2005 gives =
me more specific error.

=20

I learned that "DataWindowInterop.dll" is causing this error. I tried to =
remove it(just for a moment) from app folder and this time did not have =
an error and application runs fine. Of course I am unable to run the =
datawindow.net because I deleted a DataWindowInterop.dll. But at least I =
know that problem is with deployment of this file, probably related to =
a file dependencies. My server is Windows server 2003.

Any ideas? Did you ever deploy the web app using datawindow.net to a =

I was able to reproduce the error if the PBADO100.DLL file was deployed into
the web application bin file rather than a directory in the system path.
Unfortunately, the PBDWN100.DLL, PBSHR100.DLL and PBADO100.DLL have to be in
the system path, not the web application bin directory.

I did the same experiment using VS 2005 and ASP.NET 2.
I deployed my web app to a server. It seems that ASP.NET 2.0 validates all
the dll's placed in app folder and checks dependencies. The moment I run the
app I get the error(see attached). It seems that VS 2005 gives me more
specific error.

I learned that "DataWindowInterop.dll" is causing this error. I tried to
remove it(just for a moment) from app folder and this time did not have an
error and application runs fine. Of course I am unable to run the
datawindow.net because I deleted a DataWindowInterop.dll. But at least I
know that problem is with deployment of this file, probably related to a
file dependencies. My server is Windows server 2003.

Any ideas? Did you ever deploy the web app using datawindow.net to a windows
2003 server?

thanks
nermin

I tried dw.net in my vb.net development environment and I am very pleased
with the way it works. Almost no limitations, you can handle the DW object
the same way as you would do in PB. Good job.

The problem is when I deploy my app to a server(win server 2003) I get the
exception like this:
Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: "1124" Key being added:
"1124"

The problem occurs when this line of code is executed:
SQLCA.BindConnection()

So my question is:
Do I need to install datawindow.net on a server as well.

thanks
Nermin

Bruce thank you for you help.

=20

Still does not work, I placed all the Sybase dll's in system32 folder, =
and now I am back on square one.

I don't have a "specified module could not be found" error anymore, but =
I get the "Item already added error".

=20

To be more precise - when I first try to run dw.net I receive the =
"object reference not set" error, when I refresh I get the "Item already =
added error". Please see both of these errors in a zip file attached.

=20

Can we do this: I am going to make a small app, no more then 20 lines =
and send you the application along with a pbj containing my report. I =
can sed you that app so you can see it for yourself. What do you think =
about this idea?

regards
Nermin

I've already tested it out by creating an application that connects to
MS SQL Server and deployed it to a Win 2003 server. Make sure all the
DLL files that are in the bin directory for your web application are
in the bin directory of the deployed application (including
PBDATA100.DLL) and that the PBDWN100, PBSHR100 and PBADO100 DLLs are
in the system path and it should work fine.

datawindows in composite datawindow used in datawindow.NET, are not sliding up
Hi, Problem: datawindows in composite datawindow used in "datawindow.NET", are not sliding up , if one dw is not visible or did not retrieve data. Resulting in unwanted spaces. The height of blank white space is equal to the height of the datawindow art design time. When I looked at the generated JavaScript, I noticed there is "div" for the datawindow with height 0.00in which is supposed to be not visible. Tried different options with html/xhtml/xml same result. But slides up ok when exported to pdf(using saveas) on web and in PB10.5 application. Also s...

ado.net or/and datawindow.net
Hi, Can datawindow.net work with Sybase's ado.net or are they not compatible with each other. We have two separate groups of developers, one group develops web apps using ASE as the back end for the data, so they use a combination of Visual Studio ..NET and Sybase's ado.net to do their work. We have another group that develops client/server apps using Powerbuilder, but since 80% of their work is in writting reports using Powerbuilder, I was wondering if they could use a combination of datawindow.net and ado.net to put make these reports available on the web through ...

Datawindow.Net in ASP.Net
It is a Power builder to ASP.Net migration project. As per my analysis, the PBL should be mapped to the datawindow.net control to get the functionality of the existing PB datawindow and can convert the PB code to .net code. Please correct me if i'm wrong. I would like to know whether we can use datawindow.net control without PBL just like datagrid. In datagrid we could bind the dataset as a datasource and populate the records. Is this possible using datawindow.net? Datawindow is nothing but it stores queries/stored proecedures. Incase i want to change the queries after mi...

Problems with External Datawindows in Datawindow .Net
Has anyone used an external datawindow within a datastore in a .Net application? We are converting a piece of functionality from PowerBuilder to C# .Net and the routine uses an external datawindow. Since it is an external I didnt do SetTransObject before doing the InsertRow. I simply tried inserting a row into the datastore and a DatawindowNotCreatedException was thrown.
