OLEDB issue

Hi i have a stored proc which calls another stored proc 10 times the another
stored proc inserts one record in a table ,in my application written in VB
or C++ ,i use the oledb driver ,the behaviour i get is :
1)When i call the main stored proc 10 times in a sinle go ,using 2.10 oledb
driver in oledb_21 directory i get inconsistant inserts ie 33,40 37 ,it
should always be 100 as 10*10

2)When using 2.5 oledb driver which came with SDK12.5 i always get 100
results ,What has chaged between 2.10 and 2.50 why this inconsistant
behaviour ,I connect to 12.5 ASE .

Hi Rahul,

You should try the latest EBF of 12.0 (found in OCS 12.0) but I am not
sure what this means.

12.5 OLE DB is totally rewritten and no longer uses CtLib - it is oledb
written to TDS
API.

If I were you I would stick with the 12.5 since this is really what
should be used for
any ASE 12.X. The 12.0 version of OLEDB Provider is based on older MDAC
2.10 version,
so it is very outdated. If you really need to get something working on
12.0 then put together
a reproduceable demontration of the problem and open a case with Sybase
Tech Support.

Where can we get the new 12.5 OLE DB driver ? If it it talks directly
to TDS, then it would make sense to distribute it separately, just like
the JDBC driver .Hopefully it's free - I can get Oracle OLE DB free,
from two different vendors

Hi Andrew,

Sybase distributes the Sybase ASE OLE DB Provider, 12.5, via the Sybase
ASE 12.5 on the PC Client SDK
CDROM. If you are licensed to use the ASE then you would have this
CDRom whicgh also includes the
Sybase ASE ODBC Driver and jConnect (JDBC Driver). Also, if you are
licensed with Sybase Open Client,
you should have , or be able to get, the SDK for Windows (PC CLient SDK)
which is similar to what is
described above.

The Sybase ASE OLE DB Provider is not available from Sybase for free.

ODBC
I have a datasource succefully likned to an Oracle 8i database. I'm having a problem when my transaction object attempts to connect.......the odbc 'select a datasource' window comes and waits for me to define the DataSource ( or server) again. Once selected, the app moves along. I've tried every combination of parameters at least twice but I continue to get the ODBC prompt. I've also loaded dbparm with the same string that the databse profile painter is using. Is this something that anyone else has come across. I'm using pb5. Thanks! The prompt is disp...

database connection by ODBC/OLEDB
Can I use ODBC or OLEDB to connect to database ? We use mysql, oracle, informix as well as SQL Server. I've read quite a lot posts from this forums but can't find any. Thanks for help! ODBC connection issue with Windows XP
We have a customer with problems connecting with ODBC from a Windows XP machine to an 8.0.2.4258 server running on windows 2000 server. I've tested this myself on the cusomer's machine. The ODBC datasource is properly filled out, however neither DBISQLC or our applications can connect through using datasource. I manually entered all datasource info into the dbisqlc connection dialog (that is, NOT using the datasource to connect) and the connection is made without a problem. Dblocate and dbping both work without a problem. Again, this is only a problem connecting via ODBC. The...

ODBC Connection across subnet issue
I have Adaptive Server Anywhere 9 installed on a Windows 2003 server. I setup multiple services connecting to different databases all residing on this server. Our network has two different subnets, when I am on the same subnet that the server is on, I am able to connect to any of the databases via ODBC, when I am on the subnet that the server is not on, I am only able to connect to the database of the first service I started. I can stop that service and restart it and still connect to it, but I can not connect to any of the others. If I stop all of them and start a different one u...

How to use ODBC and OLEDB with a DSN connection?

When i use Odbc.DataAdapter etc. there in no way for me to generate a Dataset... consequence is that, visually, i have no TABLE accessible like when using OLEDB etc. i'm obliged to use this connection string: ODBCConnection1.ConnectionString = "DSN=vaseriepl01;UID=admin" but this is all done by coding and when in design mode, i have no table shown etc. I tried us...

Can ASE connect to an OLEDB or ODBC datasource?
This is actually a rhetorical question, but I got curious since I've put together several connections that go the other way, for instance, from SQL Server to ASE using ASE's OLEDB provider. But can I go from ASE and see an OLEDB (or ODBC/JDBC) source as a server or DB? Maybe I want to update a spreadsheet and don't want to open the spreadsheet app to pull the data down from ASE? A quick search on the net came up dry. There doesn't seem to be anything in the CIS manual. Would it be possible to have an Open Server OLEDB proxy or something like that? For what it...
