ASE 126.96.36.199 to ASE 12.5.4 upgrade path
I would like to know if the migration from ASE 188.8.131.52 to
12.5.4 a direct migration or is there an intermediate
upgrade to be performed in between?
Take a look at the release bulletins and installation guides for your
platform. These are the first steps to any upgrade.

...Dump/Load (from ASE 12.5.4 to ASE 15.x) - VS.
We are in the process of planning the upgrade of our ASE
12.5.4 dataservers to ASE 15.x. What is the most
recommended way to upgrade ASE dataservers from ASE 12.5.4
to ASE 15.x?
1) Install new instances of ASE 15.x and load database
dumps from our ASE 12.5.4 dataservers to the newly installed
ASE 15.x dataservers.
- OR -
2) Use the ASE upgrade utility (sqlupgrade) to upgrade our
existing ASE 12.5.4 dataservers to ASE 15.x.
What are the Pros vs. Cons for loading a 12.5.4 database
into a 15.x ASE dataserver versus performing an ASE

Trying to find what is the supported upgrade path for the above. Going from
12.0/64bit on AIX 4.3.3 to 12.5 (or 12.5.x) 64bit on AIX 5.2.
If I put AIX 5.2 , the dataserver binary of 12.0 will not work which is used
during the upgrade.
If I put 12.5.x on 4.3.3, the dataserver binary will not work beacuse it is
new binary for 5.2.
Other than backup the databases and load them to the new server, is there a
supported how to upgrade?
...Exception: SQLException Error After Upgrade from ASE 220.127.116.11 to 12.5.4
After we upgraded ASE on SUN Solaris from 18.104.22.168 to
12.5.4, our web application gives us the following error...
Exception: SQLException: Fail on select Invalid column name
It appears to me that the sql is being interpreted wrong.
We have a database table that all the users are stored in
for the app. As you can see by the error message, it seems
to be treating the user as a column name???
The only thing in our environment that changed is the ASE
version. DId sql syntax change between these versions?
Thanks for the help,

I would like to upgrade from 126.96.36.199 to 12.5.4 on Sun
solaris 64 Bit. I can't seem to download the s/w from
product download center. Am I looking at the wrong place ?
Also moving from 188.8.131.52 to 12.5.4 - is that a huge upgrade
? are there lot of functionalities that need to be tested
etc ? or is it more like replacing the s/w binaries ?

I wish to upgrade my desktop, KDE 4.3.5, mainly because of some
limitations in AmaroK. Upgrading just Amarok through the KDE update app
repo is no good as I loose the scrobbling Last.fm option. So, I just
wonder if Last.fm works fine with KDE 4.4.4 on OpenSuSE 11.2? And when I
am on to it, if there are some general reasons to upgrade further, 4.5
or perhaps 4.6?

Hi everyone! :)
We are using ASE 12.5.3. If you had to address an immediate
issue (that may be addressed in 12.5.4), what would be the
1) Temporarily upgrade to 12.5.4
2) Then as resources and circumstances permit, upgrade to
NOTE: The above assumes that we cannot get the budget
approval we need to purchase ASE 15.x (to upgrade). It is
also assumes that upgrating from 12.5.3 to 12.5.4 does not
require additional license costs.
What are your thoughts? What are the Pros & Cons of
upgrading to 12.5.4, instead of going straight to ASE 15.x?

I'm looking to upgrade from Adaptive Server 11.5.1 (running on Solaris 2.6)
to Adaptive Server Enterprise (I think) 12.4.3 (running on Solaris 2.6). I
have a couple of queries:
a) Can I do a straight-forward update of the database software or do I have
to do a formal data migration ?
b) Is there any documentation out there that I can use to assess the impact
of having to do this upgrade/migration ? - in particular I am worried that
I will have to update all of the stored procedures/code etc.
Thanks for your help.

Pardon my probable denseness but...I have 12.5.3 DE and 15.0 DE running
on a Centos host to keep my sysadmin/dba skills (such as they are) from
complete atrophy whilst I earn some wedge in the elsewhere zone!
I am looking to upgrade to 12.5.4 and 15.0.2 but having scoured
sybase.com have not seen any IR EBF files, and when following the DE
download route I get ase1500de.tar.gz proffered!?!?! I was expecting
ase1502de.tar.gz for the latter and/or EBFs!
Please enlighten me on where to get 'em - ideally before I forget I
posted this question :-).

We are currrently running 11.9.2 on an old HPUX server
(development). We are getting a newer HPUX server and our
DBA is asking us which version we should install. It will be
a clean install. Are there any major problems we may
encounter when the 11.9.2 databases are installed/upgraded
to any of the above version. We have numerous stored procs,
views and triggers. Once all applications are fully tested,
we will be upgrading the production server to whichever
version we choose.
I hope that made sense.

Currently we are running eBiz version 188.8.131.52 under

Would someone help me to share if there are any serious

Win2000 or Win2003.
Our advise for this moment is to run impact 5.4.6. under
