Log for master full
I have a 12.0 Adaptive server where the log has filled up in master and I
can't even log in to truncate it! When I try to log in, I get a message that
the log is full and my process has been suspended, eventually resulting in
the login timing out. Apparently, Adaptive server is trying to write
something to the master database when logging in.
Needless to say, I can't even get in to do a graceful shutdown, let alone
truncate the log in master, so the only way to shut it down is with the kill
command. Doing that and starting up (normal or in single user mode didn't
help). I...Master database log full. Could'nt log into server

I have situations where master db has transaction log full.
The server becomes blocked and not responding until I issue
dump tran master with no_log
1] any idea why the master log gets full sometimes? What
queries use master log?
2] When I do dump tran master with no_log, what does this do
exacly? what effect does this have on data/info in that log
or on the overall server status?
3] how to avoid a full log on master? (can we enable for
example trunk log of chkpt). If we can't avoid it, would it
be possible to have some kind of detection (automatic)?

Does anyone know how to recover from the master database log becoming full,
so much so that even a log into the server becomes a suspended transaction.
Is there a way of recovering, other than re-building master.
Any advice gratefully accepted.

...ASE 12.5 - sybmigrate - master device is almost full
Using sybmigrate to replicate a database onto a backup platform.
After a number or failed attempts (Probably my own fault because I was
trying to use a device that did not have enough space) I ended up
using the master as the repository.
The master is now nearly full on the source, and target.
I dropped the mtpdb$%.dataabse as directed in the following link,
which made available Is some space.
When I use DBArtisan to look at the "Database fragments" I see that
