Bug 482084 - rewrite xpcshell test harnes
I am fixing
Bug 485736 - Add (TUnit) 'xpcshell-tests' |make| target, using
|runxpcshelltests.py| new '--manifest' option
which (one of the) goal is to run:
*xpcshell tests with new |make xpcshell-tests|.
*compiled tests (only) with usual |make check|.
In other word, |make check| target is being split into two parts.
|make check| users can already call |make xpcshell-tests| too.
Buildbot configurations will soon be updated to do so. [1]
For a while, |make check| will continue to execute the xpcs...

foolperl-5.6.1: make; make test; rebuilds twice on AIX
I just wanted someone to know that make; make test; recompiles all
the C code twice on AIX (this had been fixed in the past). This is
admittedly a minor annoyance in an otherwise fine release and probably
indicates a busted make more than anything else (gmake does the right
thing), but if it can be easily fixed, I say do it :-)

Why different results with 'make smoke' from 'make test' From 'make test':
t/dynpmc/foo.................................ok
1/9 skipped: various reasons
t/dynpmc/gdbmhash............................ok
t/dynpmc/rational............................ok
1/8 skipped: various reasons
.... and these have been the results for these tests for months.
Same box (ppc-darwin, Mac 0S X 10.4.11), 'make smoke' (possibly a few
revisions later):
- t/dynpmc/foo.t
# Failed test (t/dynpmc/foo.t at line 57)

# Class 'Foo' not found

I have a computer with a multi-core processor, Debian 7, and Perl

test' seems to be single-threaded. Is there a way to run tests
concurrently?
TIA,

another patch to configure (so make test works)9:00 pm EST update would not pass make test for lack
of core.pm being in existance. Following patch hacks
it in in the manner of vtable.h. Sigh

[PATCH] Hi-res timings in make test--LQksG6bCIzRHxTLp
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Content-Disposition: inline
Here's a patch that brings the hi-res timings now in Test::Harness to
make test. As with T::H, you'll have to set HARNESS_TIMER=1 to get 'em.
Without that, you'll see no difference.
xoxo,
Andy

no more 'make install && make test' with shared libperl.so on LinuxEverybody trying to build a Perl with a shared libperl.so on Linux
knows it: make test will actually test the previous built.
This already resulted for me in more than one horrible confusion.
One could get used to; always say
make install && make test
This cannot be considered a solution, though.
The little patch below fixes that; it also makes a less serious
change to Configure: it lets it exit with a zero status on success,
so one could say, ex.
$ ./Configure -Dusedevel -def ../thrdconfig.sh && make test_harness

[ID 20020325.001] make -j && make test doesn't work[reposting with the fixed subject]
This is a bug report for perl from stas@stason.org,
generated with the help of perlbug 1.33 running under perl v5.7.3.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
If I'm trying to build bleadperl with 'make -j' on an smp kernel (dual
proc) it has some minor failures unaffecting the tests, but this prevents
one from being able to say:
make -j && make test
since 'make test' won't run.
here are all the relevant Error reports from make (the whole log is 170k).
If I'm not mistaken...
