I use the ADO driver with Access but use insert and delete SQL statements. I haven't had any problems doing so and the code is more portable as well. Here's a quick example of an insert:

# Prepare the statement for execution
$sth = $dbh->prepare("
      INSERT INTO PAGES (Page_ID, Template_ID, Body, Title, Meta_Keywords, Meta_Description)
      VALUES ('$FILE', $qtemplate, $qbody, $qpage_title, $qkeywords, $qdescription)
") or die "Can't prepare statement: $dbh->errstr\n";

# Check if statement prepared correctly
die "ERROR: Cannot prepare statement: $DBI::errstr\n" unless (defined $sth);

# Execute statement at database level
$sth->execute or die $sth->errstr;

# Clean up before exiting
$sth->finish; # release the statement handle resources

Looks like you are using ADO over Win32::OLE, not DBI - this is off
topic. You can use ADO through DBI as Jim instructed. If you want to
solve the current problem try subscribing to one of ActiveState's
mailing lists, perhaps perl-win32-database?

How to properly close ADO connection to mdb file so ldb files goes away?
I have an app that uses ADO to connect to a Jet Engine .mdb file. The user can open a form named frmBkUp, from the menu on the main form ,that has a button on it that when clicked runs the code listed below. If the user clicks on the button once you see the message pop up saying "found ldb". If they click on it again I get an access violation error. What I am trying to do is learn how to close all connections to the mdb file so the ldb file will go away. My goal is to close all connections then copy the .mdb file to a location that the user selects, as a way for the user to...

Insert/Update trigger question--how to know if insert or update
Is there an easy way to tell in a single trigger for both insert/update whether it was an insert or update. I know how to do this in transact sql (for each statement) , but the for each row thing is messing me up. in transact sql I can just count the number of deleted rows (if 0 then its an insert) but in the sql anywhere syntax its kinda strange-- Thanks Dave Stienessen Couldn't you check if there's an 'old' row? If there is it's an update, otherwise it's an insert. David. Dave Stienessen wrote: > Is there an easy way to ...

I have a .mdb and have set "STANDDARD" and "STATE" to a primary key so that way it won't be duplicate the "STANDARD" and "STATE" data in the database. DBI insert vs update question
Hello everyone, I want someone to share his expertise on the following: Suppose we have a table with some data that periodically must be synced with an external source, which provides only partial information (e.g. it might provide all the fields for a new record, but might provide only a single field difference for an already existing record). This obviously will involve a series of UPDATE and INSERT statements, mostly in random order. As most RDBMS can hold only one prepared statement at a time (including MySQL) I have 2 ways to do this that look somewhat efficient: 1. Swe...

Reading text file and insert/update to DB
Hi All, Normally, I am using SSIS to get a file from a text file and then do some lookup before I insert/update to database. Is there any sample code of how to do this in C# or Vb.NET? Basically, I would like to read a daily text file from a directory. Check each row by id then compare it with the database table.If there is already an existed ID, then updated, otherwise insert a new row. Thanks in advance.  Hi,Your question really falls under two parts. 1)reading the text file and parsing the values.reading a text file is fairly simpleOnce you've done that assuming each record...
