CPAN out of date at ftp.cpan.org?

OK - slightly off-topic, but not wholly irrelevant, either...

Last night (2006-10-23) I was getting some puzzling results from CPANPLUS,
and eventually found that the files at ftp://ftp.cpan.org/pub/CPAN (such as
the three control files used by CPANPLUS and CPAN modules) were dated early
October (say 8th October) instead of 22nd or 23rd October.

I reconfigured to use some alternative locations in preference to
ftp.cpan.org, and a whole bunch of previously anomalous behaviours (wrong
versions, missing modules)

Is this a known problem? Is ftp.cpan.org known to be out of date, or is it
(or was it) some sort of accident?

I think ftp.cpan.org is a dynamic dns alias that resolves to a mirror
'it thinks' is 'close' to you.

testers.cpan.org out of sync with search.cpan.org?
On several of my modules, the search.cpan.org page shows test passes/failures, whereas when I follow the link to see the actual list, there are no tests reported. eg: http://search.cpan.org/~CRAKRJACK/Class-Driver-0.004/ Usually this clears up in about a day, but in some cases it's been 3 or 4 days now and search.cpan.org is telling me that tests have run, but testers.cpan.org doesn't seem to know anything about them. Is this a common problem? Is it fixable? Is there somewhere else I can go to find out about the results of my modules being tested, short of subscribing t...

Scripts in CPAN modules & search.cpan.org
Hello: I'm not sure where to report this, but there seems to be a bug in search.cpan.org related to modules containing scripts with hyphens in them. I noticed this looking at the page http://search.cpan.org/~joshr/Sman-0.95/ : The link for the script 'sman' leads to the docs for 'sman-update', and the link for the script 'sman-update' does not exist. (The scripts themselves exist and can be found at http://search.cpan.org/src/JOSHR/Sman-0.95/script/ ) Is there a bug system this should get filed in, or an appropriate group to notify? Or is this...

CPAN-YACSmoke-0.03_09
Hi all! Where does CPAN-YACSmoke-0.03_09 (reported here - http://www.cpantesters.org/show/CPAN-YACSmoke.html) can be found? I couldn't find it on kobesearch, s.c.o or ftp.cpan.org in the author's directory. And why does a JavaScript on the page causes its test results to disappear? And BTW, I couldn't find it on: http://cpantesters.perl.org/show/CPAN-YACSmoke.html Which is linked from: http://cpan.uwinnipeg.ca/dist/CPAN-YACSmoke Any help would be appreciated. Good day, I've built perl 5.6.1 on Tru64 then built DBI and DBD as per the instructions. When I try to run perl I get DBD::mSQL initialisation failed: Can't locate object method "driver" via package "DBD::mSQL" (perhaps you forgot to load "DBD::mSQL"?) at /usr/local/gnu/packages/perl-5.6.1-db/lib/site_perl/5.6.1/alpha-dec_osf/DBI.pm line 619. CPAN: install Bundle::CPAN
Hello, All: This is my first time using the CPAN module. While using CPAN to download/install a module, CPAN reported that I should run 'install Bundle::CPAN' to get the latest stuff. When I entered 'install Bundle::CPAN' it went about it's business getting and make'ing and started asking about where to install _all_kinds_of_stuff_... What the heck is Bundle::CPAN? What is going on? It seems like it's installing a completely new version of Perl or something. (It wanted to know where my C compiler is and where it should install stuff!!!) -- Eri...

CPAN pod2html: what does CPAN use for itself?
Hi, I have some modules and I want to have their POD output look like CPAN pages. Does anyone know what CPAN uses to turn a submitted module into the web pages shown on search.cpan.org? The pod2html that comes with my perl distribution yields workable HTML, but, even if I manually add a link to the CPAN stylesheet, the output from pod2html is still lacking several things (mostly DIV CLASS= statements) that give the CPAN pages their distinctive look. TIA. Hi Michael, Michael C. Davis wrote: > Does anyone know what CPAN uses to turn a submitted module into the > web page...

dual life CPAN modules and 5.6.x series? wrong versions reported on search.cpan.org
Does PAUSE make special indexing of dual life CPAN modules only for 5.8.x and higher? Not for 5.6.x? http://search.cpan.org/search?query=CGI&mode=module tells us that CGI.pm is the one in the 5.6.2 distro and not its own package in Lincoln's directory. 5.6.2's bundled version is 2.752. The real CGI.pm version is 3.00. Is this a bug in search.cpan.org or PAUSE indexer? Looks like it's the former, since CPAN.pm gives us 3.00. Moreover CPAN.pm tells me: cpan> d /CGI.pm/ Distribution L/LD/LDS/CGI.pm-2.77.tar.gz Distribution L/LD/LDS/CGI.pm-3.00.tar...

Cpan problems
