Before I ask my question, I want to tell you that I am a complete
newbie with SUSE and Linux in general.
I am trying to install adobe flash player for Firefox but I keep
running into a brick wall. I downloaded the flash player from the adobe
website (the one with .tar.gz), and extracted it. It's currently
located in the 'Downloads' folder.
I read up and found that the file needs to be in the
usr/lib/browser-plugins folder, but when I try to move/copy it over
there it tells me that my access is denied eventhough there's only one
user on the sy...Adobe flash KUbuntu 10.04 flashplugin-installer AMD 64bit, "You need to upgrade your flash player. Download it from Adobe."; jor MozFirefox
I can't get flash working now. It was working maybe a month ago, but
then stopped, & I haven't tired since then.
The latest message is:
"You need to upgrade your flash player. Download it from Adobe."
But, I've tried installing it using the Ubuntu flashplugin-installer,
but it won't show up as installed.
I'm running Firefox direct from Mozilla, not ubuntu, to have the debug
ability on, for if a crash occurs.
I turned off flashblock & noscript, & restarted Firefox, then exited
I purged flashplugin-installer, then rei...Adobe Flash Player & Shockwave Flash

I am two issues with my horizontal menu in Safari and Firefox. One: the menu is displaying behind my flash. I have added <param name="wmode" value="transparent"/>, and <embed ... wmode="transparent"...></embed> and I am still getting grief in Firefox. I've tried z-index:-1 as well to no avail. This is working well in IE but not in any other browser. The other issue is in safari the menu is not displaying properly. I am getting the "title" expand "title" (i.e. Tickets expand Tickets) with out the menu displaying onmo...Silverlight & .Net vs Adobe flex & flash
I just read an article about Adobe Flex, which uses their xml format called MXML. It works by a user first making a request to a mxml file hosted on a server running the Flex server. The server runtime then processes the mxml and turns it into a SWF file on the first request. Further requests are just sent the SWF, embeded in an html file. Interaction and features are handled by writing actionscript. Ok, im a Flash newbie, but at this point I can see that Microsoft is going to have a huge leg up on Adobe because building RIA (rich interactive apps) with S...Firefox V15 & Flash 11.402 = flash crash

I would highly suggest getting the Flash Uninstaller
http://goo.gl/faLsa and then run it (with browser closed),
then manually download Flash 11.4 from File Hippo (http://goo.gl/KS9u)
and try again. Many problems solved by doing this.

Yesterday I updated to the latest Firefox .. I was immediatelly prompted
to update Adobe flash, I agreed to it. This morning on boot I was
prompted to update Adobe shockwave .. I agreed to it .. but now I am
looking at a screen with the title: "Installing Adobe Shockwave Player"
the body of the window says: "Free Norton security scan .. blah blah
blah .. Norton crap" there is a checkbox, already checked and only one
button to dismiss this window: "Agree >"
It's unbelievable! .. I will of course UN-check 'Install Norton .. "

Summary: Firefox and Adobe Flash
My Firefox is suddenly unable to view Flash content. I have redownloaded
the Flash plug-in a million times, and have followed various solutions
found both on your web site and many others to no avail. It works in
Explorer and Chrome. This should be a very simple fix, and I've wasted
far too much time. I am sorry to say you've lost a loyal Firefox user.

I have rather sadly taken to playing a game on facebook which runs with
flash player in firefox.
I was tinkering with conky and was shocked to find that when I have
this wee game running in a tab my cpu use is at 75%...........
I close this tab, leaving all 15 or so others open, as well as whatever
else processes are running, and the machine settles to about 5%- 6%
I know that Adobe specialise in obscenley obese bloatware, but this
can't be right surely?
I updated flash from adobe's site to the latest version, but no

Sometimes I wonder if they're in bed with each other.
Every time I've upgraded anyone's Firefox to the latest version lately,
it's coming up with Upgrade your Flash Player Now (or something like that.
If you follow the links that supposedly make it "seamless", you go through
all that crap, think you have upgraded it, and all you have done is
download (agree first, of course) and install the damn Adobe Download
Manager, which in turn will *maybe* download the FlashPlayer. If it does,
then again you have to "agree" and then maybe if you're lucky y...
