intel 945 gme; intel driver and external displays

Hi,
I try to connect an external display (1440x900) to a laptop (dell
inspiron 640m) with intel 945 GME, intel driver and opensuse 11 64 bit.
Up to know I used as a workaround the i810 driver + profiles. (two
different xorg.conf files).
Now I decided to try the intel driver.
So I launch Sax2 I configure the display for the right resolution I
test it, save it and reboot.
Of course the things do not work by itself decides that 1024x768 is
better for him.
Here is the xrandr output

If I manually set the resolution wit xrandr things seem to be perfect

The xserver is started by kdm4

Any thought about?

Found a kind of solution

in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager

look for
## Type: string
## Default: "1024x768_60 64.11 1024 1080 1184 1344 768 769 772 795
-HSync +Vsync"
#
# Mode to use for laptops for DISPLAYMANAGER_RANDR_MODE_* on laptops
only,
# when the according variable is set to "auto".
# (RANDR 1.2 compatible drivers only).
#

and set
DISPLAYMANAGER_RANDR_MODE_auto=""

This seems to cure both the strange resolution + the flicker.

Intel GMA X3100 detected as an Intel 945 GM
I pretended to install Opensuse in a Sony Vaio VGM-NR21M from the 11's live CD and I found a funny problem. Graphic card is detected as a Intel 945 GM when it's a GMA X3100. With the live CD, the image is constrained to upper left quarter of the screen, and this is mirroed, up side down, to the bottom left quarter of the screen. I've tried to change different parameteres prior to installation, but I couldn't figure how to change graphic card detection. Is it posible to do it prior to instalation, or may have to be solved after instalation?. Any idea?. -- ...

Hello. I've an Acer Travelmate 5710 which has the Intel 945 Express (GMA 950). I want to know if I can extend the monitor through the UI (without having to go through editing of files - because I'm not a code person.) when using OpenSuse 11.1. Tell me, please. Thank you. I have a Sony Vaio VGN FZ160E. The auto config didn't set up my desktop/monitor correctly. Intel drivers
I have been very thankful over the years for this forum telling me when and where the latest hotpatch was available. Without this information I would have been at a loss each time we made a new hardware purchase. Our computers have always had Intel boards with onboard NIC. Just got our first couple of new computers for the year, getting ready for a major purchase and they don't work with the imaging server as NIC is not detected. Saw the latest HP1 for IR1 and thought I would be out of trouble again, but unfortunately no. Board is Intel DG33BU which has onboard NIC Intel ...

Acer Travelmate 'Intel' x.org Driver
I never really bothered in the past using OpenSUSE on my laptop because XP was sufficient at the time. But now it's just old and I can't be bothered to reinstall it every time something goes wrong, and the worst part most apps I use require an Admin account. I tried OpenSUSE 10.3 or 10.2 on my laptop, I'm not quite sure which version it was, but I had a problem with the new 'intel' driver replacing the 'i810' driver in x.org conf. So I reinstalled the 'i810' driver and everything was fine. Can I still do this on OpenSUSE 11 or is there no supp...
