PKIDIAG -> WARNING:We could not discover a DNS name
I have novell 6.0 sp5. Tomorrow I 'll upgrade to NW65.sp6.
I have run PKIDIAG and then I have noticed this:

I reinstalled my PL server. Now, when agents register, the name and DNS =
names are just garbage. Anyone seen anything like this:

Service Pack Info:Service Pack 1=20
IP Address:192.57.1....Need e-directory server name and DNS name to be different
We're setting up an OES2/SLES10 box. We're at the point where we're
importing the server into an existing tree. We're installing OES2 as
an add-on product at the same time we're installing SLES10. When you
give it a DNS name, it wants to use that name as the server name (as it
would appear in e-directory)...but we don't want that. We want (for
example) the server name to be ls2224-cs and the dns name to be

I believe this error message has a long history.
I am hoping to get lucky and be graced with a technical explanation
(i.e. detail) as to the cause, from someone who knows the reasons why....
The message appears in the error log of our iManager 272 Servers (Hosted
on NW6.5 Sp8 eDir 88. NW 6.5 SP8 was installed on eDir 88 so we are at
eDir 88SP4). The text of the message also appears to the initiator of

When iterating through column names returned from a query, I need to get "table.name" rather than just "name"
Check it out:
If I have an SQL statement "SELECT table1.ID, table2.ID FROM table1, table2;"
And table1 has a column name 'ID'
and table2 has a column name 'ID' aswell,
and i run the query, the dataset will contain column names 'ID' and 'ID'
instead of 'table1.ID' and 'table2.ID'
It is extremely important that I can differenciate between the 2 fields, and know where each of them come from.
The same thing happen...DNS name only
I have a customer who wants to point their users to: iprint.domain.com
instead of iprint.domain.com/ipp
How do we do this?
Use the Apache redirect facility

Can you point me to a TID or doc on how to do that, please?

I have an OES netware server (6.5 SP6) on which I have had to change the
dns setup to get iPrint working.
I changed the dns name on all servers and workstations to the new external
domain name and everything seemd ok (not chnaged the NDS server name).
Then I changed the hosts and hostname file and a lot of things have
stopped workig. I have edited numerous conf files, but at the moment
iPrint has stopped completely. This may of course be something to do with
the SP6. I have applied the iprint SP6a fix.
Is there a complete list of what to change if you need to change the dns
Can I create a printer using a DNS name (eg printer.test.ac.uk) instead
Sure you can. It's up to you whether you wanna use IP adresses or DNS names.
Personally I prefer to use DNS names. Just be sure to configure the physical
printer appropriately and that the DNS names are resolvable by your DNS.

...Named not resolving names
My DNS service has stopped resolving names. It has been working
splendidly for 6 months.
The service is up (I can see the listener on port 53).
I wiped out the entire system (server, domain, etc) and recreated
everything. No luck.
Any ideas where to begin?
What NW version? What service pack? What version of NAMED? What
changes have been made to the server recently?

Have a look at ClassDefinition, and following the ParentClass
attribute up the chain. Extend this enough, and you can identify all
descendants of ucb_user_object (I'm guessing that may be your
objective). PFC implements something like this in
