Migration Tool for NetWare problem...

First of all, is this where I should post this?

As for the issue, we're looking to migrate file structure only to
Win2k
server. Current server is NW4.11(7a). Migration server is NT4(6a).
Destination server is Win2K(sp4). Upon executing the tool, I can
browse for
the particular servers, but upon saying OK to the pair, it errors,
telling
me that it 'Cannot connect to server: Test2K'. GSNW and NWLink are on
the
'migration' server and user is supervisor/administrator equivalent.
If I
use a browser, I can go into every server and do whatever I like. I
tried
to connect to other NT servers as well, including the local
'migration'
server itself, and got the same error for all of them. What am I
missing?

I appreciate any assistance on this matter.

Thank you.

Jer

Netware to Netware migration or P2V?
Im in the process of virtualizing all our servers to VMWare ESX 3.5. We have a server that is NW 6.5 SP7, runs ZENWorks 7 and holds all of our application files as well as images. Im trying to figure out the best way to virtual this server. Usually its a pretty straight forward process, but Id like to downsize the VOL1 volume so its not taking up so much space on our SAN. VOL1 is 890GB total, but only has 230GB used. Id rather not "waste" that space on the SAN untils its truly needed. Im curious how everyone would approach this: would you do the P2V and somehow shrin...

NetWare to NetWare file copy problem
Hello All, We are trying to copy files from a Netware 6.5 server (SP6) to a newer NetWare 6.5 (SP7) server. We are copying an entire volume, VOL1. The source server has a 33GB volume with about 4GB of free space. When we start the copy the disk space on the source server drops and eventually the copy stops when space on the source server runs out. The destination servers volume is 200GB, so I have no idea why the source server is running out of space. We are doing the copy from a Windows XP PC, and to me it looks like the Netware server is doing some type of caching but not ...

Netware 5 to Netware 6.5 migration

Hardware migration from Netware 6 to Netware 6
Hi, I am trying to migrate hardware from Netware 6 to Netware 6 using Novell Netware Migration Wizard 7.1. Problem with migration to Netware 6
Hi, I am doing a migration from NW5.1 to NW6 in Taiwan. I am using the Migration wizard to copy volumes. On the server, there are a lot of files with Chinese characters filesnames. During the migration, a few hundreds of these files could not be copied to the new server. The rest of them can be copied. The error msg is "NWSMTS error : unable to open data stream". I tried to do a manual copy but failed too. I am not sure whether to continue with the migration. Why can't NW6 accepts these files when NW5.1 is OK? Please advise. Thank you for your help. regards phil...

Migration from Netware 5.0 to Netware 6.5
I am install new hardware and new netware. The old server is running NW5.0 and the new one will be running NW 6.5. Is ther an easy way to move users and data from the old server to the new one. I know that I will not be able to move the printer and will have to set all of them on the new server. We have about 800 users on the old server. Netware 5.x to Netware 6.5 migration
I have a few questions in regards to migrating Netware 5.x to Netware 6.5 server. I have 2 servers, one running 5.1 the other running 5.0, I want to consolidate those two servers into one new Netware 6.5 server on new hardware. I know I must run the migration wizard for the one server, but do I have to run the migration wizard twice, i.e. on both 5.x servers, or can I simply migrate one server and copy the data from the other server without migrating the nds objects? Also, the data on one server is to much to do a migration wizard over the weekend, slow data transfer, so can I mig...

Netware 5.0 to Netware 6.5 migration
My corporation recently acquired a company with a single Netware 5.0 server. We have already installed a new Netware 6.5 server at their location that is part of our global eDirectory tree. Help With migrating from Netware 6 to Netware 6.5
Hi All, This is my first post, so I am sorry if it is a stupid question. I am trying to complete a hardware migration using the migration wizard, but I've hit a snag and don't know how to get past it. migrate DNS from a netware 5 server to a netware 6 server
Are there any instructions for moving the dns from a netware 5 server to a netware 6 server and maintaining the databases? I don't want to have to reenter all of my special DNS info again. Also, when I change the DNS server, I would like to maintain the same IP address for the DNS service.
