Windows 7 HP drivers and Universal Print Driver questions

Do you use HP UPD for all HP Laserjet for your organization? How did it
work out using iprint and UPD? I rather not use UPD since it got so many
issues in the past. It looks like I don't have any choice though. For
example I can't find Color laserjet 5500 driver on Hp site (except for
UDP). In Imanager broker upload page, built-in drivers for windows 7
does not list hp 5500. There is a function in windows 7 that allow you
show more printers drivers if you chose "windows update" option. This
will show hp 5500 driver in the list. However, I can't do that step
with imanager driver upload page. Therefore I can't upload this hp 5500
to the broker. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.

I did not spent much time on the HP UPD, but again the current version
did not work for me (could upload the driver, but can not create
profiles). I don't know what HP is doing there, this driver is a ....

Therefor I just selected a driver from the Win7 repository which was as
near to the real printer as possible.

If you need the driver from windows update, you can install this driver
for a local printer (e.g. pretending that this printer is attached to
LPT1). After that you can upload this driver into iPrint.

I've been working on the same thing the last few days. It seems like
after I did the Windows update option, I could access those new drivers
through the iManager upload page.

iPrint, Windows 7, Xerox Global Print Driver
I guess there are people who are able to make iPrint work with Windows 7, but I seem to be not one of those people. There seems to be too many pieces to this puzzle that I have to worry about, and I'm having trouble getting a good feel for where the problem is. Most of our computers are XP, but we are starting to roll out a few Win-7 machines. I believe I have the iPrint client loaded on a Win-7 machine ok, but it's hard to tell, since I can't seem to get a Win-7 print driver into the broker. First issue was that loading a driver to the broker via iManager doesn't l...

iPrint Driver 2-up printing unavailable HP 4250 PCL6/PCL5e/PS Driver
The HP LaserJet 4x50 series drivers are supposed to offer N-up printing. When these printers are used via iPrint this Finishing option is not available. However, with the very same driver (PCL6), if you connect to the printer via a Standard TCP/IP port the option becomes available. I don't know if this is a compatibility problem or an iPrint configuration issue. Specifically, we would like to be able to print N-up printing. Any suggestions? Using HP Universal Print Driver
I'm debating replacing all of my drivers with the UPD from HP. I'm trying to read some documentation, but I'm seeing a bunch of limitations by using NDPS/iPrint with the UPD and wondering if its outdated information or just wrong, or thats just the way it is. For example: "NOTE: UPD for Novell only supports static mode and not dynamic mode." I thought I read somewhere that the latest iPrint client is fully compatible with UPD stuff, bi-directional, etc.. so I dont have to 'configure' any driver properties, such as trays, etc. Can someone shed so...
