iPrint, Windows 7, Xerox Global Print Driver

I guess there are people who are able to make iPrint work with Windows
7, but I seem to be not one of those people. There seems to be too many
pieces to this puzzle that I have to worry about, and I'm having trouble
getting a good feel for where the problem is.

Most of our computers are XP, but we are starting to roll out a few
Win-7 machines. I believe I have the iPrint client loaded on a Win-7
machine ok, but it's hard to tell, since I can't seem to get a Win-7
print driver into the broker. First issue was that loading a driver to
the broker via iManager doesn't like Firefox. Ok, no problem, I'll try
IE. I begin the process and, when I tried it last week, the driver files
were copied, but then the browser sat for about 10 minutes before
finally returning an error. Alright, maybe an issue with IE8, so I went
to an older machine [Win-2000 Server] that had IE6 - same problem.
Today, I tried it again, and I get the error that I can only load a
Win-7 driver from a Win-7 machine [why it didn't give me this error last
week, I don't know]. So, after jumping through hoops to get the iPrint
client installed on a Win-7 machine, because it won't let you add
drivers to the broker if you don't have iPrint installed, when I go to
"Add From File", the machine responds with "To use this printer, you
must install the corresponding printer driver. To continue, click OK."

But... I'm not installing the printer yet, just the drivers into the

In any case, I click OK, and it appears that I can browse my way to the
.inf file and choose the driver I wish to install and, like before, the
browser returns an error. Since I can see the error again, it is as

And I'm using iManager 2.7.2 [could be part of the problem... having
issues upgrading that, too]

I'm not sure, but I think this is less to do with the Xerox drivers
than it is to do with iManager/iPrint. In any case... if anyone can
point me in a definitive direction to get this all working, I'd
certainly appreciate it.

I had good success with the latest Xerox GPD (PS) and iManager 2.7.4. I
think you will do better to first update iManager and the iPrint plugin
to the latest.

The "To use this printer, you must install the corresponding printer
driver. To continue, click OK." seems to occur always on Win7 - that
appears to be part of the way iManager install iPrint drivers on Win7.

It did take a long time, maybe a little better on the Linux-based
iPrint than the Netware 6.5SP8 iPrint. However, once installed I'm quite
happy with the Xerox GPD. I can set up profile for that driver without
problem and it communicates with our WorkCentre 5050 with all
capabilities, on both XP and Win7.

I've started using the Xerox GPD (PS) for all our networked HP
LaserJets, as I never overcame all the problems with the HP Universal

iPrint 5.64 vs. Xerox Global Print Driver PS
iPrint 5.64 vs. Xerox Global Print Driver PS A couple of weeks ago I pushed out the newest Xerox Global Print Driver-PS via iprntcmd for our Document Centre 5050 printers. All was well until the iPrint 5.64 Win7 version arrived. As soon as 5.64 was installed, the Win7 spooler crashed on any attempt to print to the Xeroxes. Removing and re-installing the printer at the workstation does not help. Strangely, the Win7 desktop I tested it out with before distribution worked fine, and still works fine. Unfortunately, that one may be the only one with Win7 SP1. Has anyone seen ...

iPrint and (printing on) Windows 7 SP1
Hi! Sorry to say, I was stupid enough to install W7 SP1 to solve some problems I had, but ... I raises more problems than expected. So, my question is probably nothing to-do with iPrint, but anyway, maybe we can share experiences. After SP1 also printing start to act slower than expected. Sometimes much slower. Using iPrint v05.56.00 and NW 6.5 SP8 (with patches) as server. I see on W7 machine that it does something with printing and ... it takes time. Any ideas? iPrint stops printing in Windows 7
I got the latest iPrint client installed and I did the updates to the server. (Netware 6.5 SP8). The workstation will print fine and sometimes it just stops printing. No error messages displayed. When I go to print the job goes but nothing comes out and no status message shows in the iPrint client. When I look at the credentials in iPrint it shows the username and context. iPrint on Windows 7 32 Bit
Hey Everyone, Iam sorry, I think this issue has been up here about a 1000 times (mostly relating to WinXP I think), but my knowledge of iPrint ist pretty close to zero and the support guys asked me if I could open up a thread in the novell forums. My colleagues have encountered problems with the iPrint Client on Windows 7. Iam not quite sure, that this issue is related to iPrint and Iam not really familiar with iPrint Administration / Support (Iam trying to get into this at the moment), so I will try to outline the problems. In the forums I could only find similar problems r...

iPrint 5.20 Windows 7 Drivers
Hello, we are starting testing Windows 7, since we are still on XP we will skip vista and go ahead with seven. The new client installs and probably works great but when I go to the ipp page and try to install iPrinter it says that no driver is available. How do I solve this? Simply by uploading Vista drivers for that printer? Tried running iPrint in Windows XPSP2 compatibility mode but no luck. iPrint printer does not print through iPrint
We have iPrint working and have been using for a long time without any problems. We recently received a HP OfficeJet Pro K550 printer to put on the network. I uploaded the drivers, made the agent and all is good with that. However, the printer will not print if going through iPrint, although it says the print was successful. I tried printing to it directly from the TCP/IP port and it works fine, so its obviously a iPrint issue. To try to track down where it is getting held up, I paused output on the iPrint agent and printed to the iPrint printer. The job stays in the queue...

After installation of SP 7 for NW 6.5 and deployment of iprint client 4.32 iprint printing gets extremely slow
We have a Kyocera Mita FS-6950DN printer, which was working like every other printer before applying NW 6.5 Sp7. Since applying NW6.5 SP7, which includes iprint client 4.32 printing to this printer from any application out of WinXP has gotten really slow. Sometimes you have to wait 2 minutes till a print job of 3 pages completes from within the application, which on another printer needs only seconds and does only need seconds if the same printer is used as a NDPS printer. I can easily backrev the iprint client to 4.30, but is it safe to backrev the iprint modules of the apache server to th...

iPrint Print Map Icons not installing Print Driver.
Hi all, I have two servers (one lightly newer installation wise) which I use as print servers only. Both SP3. My problem is this: On the older box (edir02) we have NDPS/iPrint printers running. iPrint maps and traditional NDPS. The newer box (edir03)has NDPS/iPrint printers running. However I've been trying to setup an iPrint Map which I've done and added a few printers. First, problem was that I needed to create a smaller DNS name and reload NDPSM with the \DNSNAME which I did. This caused my to have to recreate the printers on the new map. Now when I load the p...
