Last access date & time of files

Hi,

When we look at the properties of a files, the last access date is
modified but the last access time always display 00:00. Is it normal?

We are running GW 6.5 SP2.

Agreed, its presence is not well documented and I found it when looking
through the SDK .h files for something else.

My whodidit program displays last access dates and times if thats any help

Ok, but is it normal that just browsing a directory change the last
access time for all the files in this directory?

Ok

it's strange because one of my workstation change the last access time
for all the file and my other workstation don't do that.

My two workstation run WinXP and Novell Client 4.9 Sp2

I also have one W2K workstation who don't change the date when I browse
the directory.

Another issue in this relation:
We are wondering about backup software resp. TSAs which were changing the
last access time. This is important if a HSM solution have to work
correctly. Is there any way to prevent changing this through backup
processes?

The backup software is *supposed* to reset the last access date to what it
was before the backup. Arcserve at least does this

Server Date & Time vs. Local Date & Time
I have the following code (which some members assisted with) and it works great locally... It takes the date and time and formats just the way I want:  e.g.:  10/28/2008 13:58:44 becomes 102820080158 (which is what I want) But, when I upload the app to our server the date pulled is:           10/28/2008 1:59:37 PM As a result the date skips the formatting and does not work, so how can I code this so the date/time will be the same whether its local or on a server, and I have adjusted the regional settings to match - and same issue...

File time & date change every time
Hi, Since some days, I have a curious problem with file time/date on my file server Novell 6.5 (service pack 4). The date/time "last modified" always change. For example, I have a file "last modified" 12 september 2003, 17:40. Each time I verify the Properties with Windows XP pro, this time/date increase !!!. If I copy this file on a local harddisk, the date is fixed on the file copied, but continue to increase on my file server. It create hudge problems for incremental backup !!! Any idea to resolve this strange situation ??? Thanks in advance ! ea...

Anyone want to take a crack at this one? I am trying to get the last access time for a file. My stat() command is not returning anything and the variable $current_logfile is populated correctly. Compare file modified date time to system date time
I have an client application that uploads a zip file to a server. Once the server application sees the file, it processes the file. The process starts before the zip file is completely downloaded to the server. I want to delay the process until the file is completely downloaded. I am trying to compare the zip file modified date time with the system date time. If the zip file modified date time is 5 seconds older than the system date time then I know the zip file downloaded. At this point I will continue to process the zip file. I am not sure how I can compare the two date time. The DateTime....

Copy/move files by last access date?
Hi, I see quite a few references to utilities to delete files/folders which have not been accessed in the last 'n' days, but is there anything which will copy them, with directory structure, to another location so that they can be archived instead of deleted? I'd like to move old files to another location and archive them to CD/DVD before deleting. Thanks. backup software can do this. file date/time not updating on netware volume
We're running: NW5.1 sp6 edir 8.7 WinXP, Client versions 4.9 and 4.9 sp1 (beta a_17) file caching is off on clients Our problem is that sometimes the modified date & time is not updated on netware volumes, even if the file has been modified by a client. One example is a client logging application we have running on some machines. The app logs an event to a file on a Netware volume, then closes it and the app exits. The timestamp in the event log is for example 11/20/2003 1:00 PM, and the file modified time on the server remains at 11/19/2003. How can the file modified ...

File Last Access time updated to midnight
Can someone tell me if there is something running in the background on Netware(possibly compression algorithm?), that would update the "last access time" of all files for a particular volume? I am pretty sure it is not backup software or virus scan software. I have observed this on both Netware 6 and Netware 6.5 servers. These are NOT clustered volumes. I have noticed that if I perform a search, using Microsoft Explorer, for files that have not been accessed in several months, it comes up with a listing of files. If I right-click on one of the files in the list, and sele...
