Server 2003 - netware client (slow access to mapped drives)

Hi guys,

Just wondering if Novell has released a specific client for Server 2003.

On the download page I am noticing the clients for 2000/XP/98 etc...

Also wondering if anyone has had any problems or issues running clients
on server 2003 or can provide any guidelines.

I am experiencing slow access to mapped drives and am wondering if this
is related

Cheers,

Client Drive Remaping and No Server Drive Access
How do I setup drive remapping so that my clients cannot access the server drives but be able to access/save data to the client ? You can use NT security as you normally would outside of the WDK to prevent access to server files. The Administrator's Guide and the Release Notes explain how to remap client or server drive names in order to support client drive access. The release notes can be found in the directory where you installed the WDK, and the file is README.TXT. I have extracted information below. You choose the alternative you want to use when you install the WDK s...

Map drive to Windows 2003 server
Hopefully this isn't too long and boring.... We have a Netware 5.1 server as our main server and a Windows 2003 server as an application server. The application on the 2003 server, is occasionally updated and when users log into the application from their WinXP PC, any newer version of the application is installed to the PC. To automate the authentication process, we would like to map a drive in the login script and login as a 2003 user that has rights to the correct folder on the 2003 server. Slow initial access to mapped drives
I'm troubleshooting an issue that just popped up with a server change. There's a client (only 1 that I know of) that's having problems with access times to Novell mapped drives. The user logs into his system and the login script runs. 2 drives are mapped through the script and 5 netware drives are reconnected at login. After logging in, he can go to one of his mapped drives (S:) and double click on it. The window opens, but it takes about 45 seconds to a minute before any content is displayed. Upon getting access to the drive, you can close the window and reconnect wi...

Win7 slow accessing Win server 2003 share
We're having trouble with our new Win7 machines. When we try to start programs or access data that are stored on a Windows Server 2003 machine, it is MUCH slower than the same program started on a WinXP machine. Extensive googling has indicated that this is a common issue caused by some Win7 "optimizations", with a few suggested things to try, but nothing has helped noticeably. Anybody run across this and found a real fix? D On 2012-04-20 8:51 AM, David Kerber wrote: > We're having trouble with our new Win7 machines. When we try to start > progr...

Client connects to server, but doesn't map drives
A Windows 7 PC with Client 2 takes a user's login credentials and authenticates them to the tree, but doesn't accomplish the drive mappings that are called in the login script. When I show the Netware Connections, she shows as connected to the tree and authenticated. When we open up "My Computer" she doesn't have her drives mapped that should come from the server. Then, while logged in as her, I right-clicked on the red-N, and logged in as the Admin. The same workstation, with the same Windows user, processed the login script and mapped the drives for the a...

Client seems to cause slow RDP to windows 2003 server
I have a strange problem which only seems to manifest itself in the virtual world. I have several windows 2003 servers on which I've installed the Novell client 4.91 sp4. When making an RDP connection to the server it can take up to 90 seconds for the server screen to appear. If the RDP application is closed without logging out and an immediate reconnect is made, the connection is immediate. If, however, a connection is tried ten minutes or more later the reconnection can take up to 90 mins again. This is becoming frustrating. It appears that if I remove the novell client the...
