SCU NT to NetWare MIgration - Skip Migrate of User Home Directories

I'm trying to migrate 25 GB of shared data from a NT 4.0 server to NetWare
6.5 server, but do not want to migrate user's home directories that are
specified on the Profile tab in the MMC Active Directory Users and
Computers snap-in.

The home directories are already located on the NetWare server to which I
am migrating the shared data. The NetWare server has CIFS running so that
non-Novell Client users can map drive letters to their home directories.

Does anyone know of a way to tell the Server Consolidation Utility to skip
home directories or a way to trick SCU into not seeing the home
directories? It really slows down the data migration process when migrating
home directories that have already been migrated.

Thanks!

IIRC, it gives you the option to only copy files that are newer

SCU only copies what you selected for copying. So if you don't want to
copy the home directories, simply don't select them for copying. If you
selected a whole volume for copying and this includes the home
directories, make your selection differently in that you don't drag the
whole volume over to the destination, but you simply drap over only those
directories that you want to be copied.
You can of course select a no overwrite rule like Joe suggested, but if
you have many files and directories in your home directory structure, the
testing alone will take an important amount of time which you can avoid by
simply not selecting the home directories for copy.

Netware to Netware migration or P2V?
Im in the process of virtualizing all our servers to VMWare ESX 3.5. We have a server that is NW 6.5 SP7, runs ZENWorks 7 and holds all of our application files as well as images. Im trying to figure out the best way to virtual this server. Usually its a pretty straight forward process, but Id like to downsize the VOL1 volume so its not taking up so much space on our SAN. VOL1 is 890GB total, but only has 230GB used. Id rather not "waste" that space on the SAN untils its truly needed. Im curious how everyone would approach this: would you do the P2V and somehow shrin...

Netware to NT Migration
I'm real new to Newsgroups, so please let me know if this question is being posted properly. The last question I posted on this Newsgroup was deleted by someone else, for reasons unknown to me. I'm developing a PB 5, win 95 client application that used to be run on a Netware server but now must be run on a NT 4 server. The old code got information about the network (eg. network id, logged in status, server name etc.) using the pbnovell.pbl that comes free with PB. The new code needs the same information about the NT network. Is there anyone out there who has developed a pbl...

Hardware migration from Netware 6 to Netware 6
Hi, I am trying to migrate hardware from Netware 6 to Netware 6 using Novell Netware Migration Wizard 7.1. I read the TID 10085160 which recommends that not connected new server to the network. Howerver, according to the Novell Netware Migration Wizard 7.1 Document, for better performance, source and destination, and workstation run on a common LAN segment. Can you please let me know.... Netware 5 to Netware 6.5 migration
I was reading on the migration pdf file about migrating from Netware 5 to Netware 6.5 and one section states that the minimum requirement is Netware 5.0 and another section states Netware 5.1 with service pack 6. Along with different NDS versions and edir versions being supported. This migation would be an across the wire migration to new hardware. Any concrete minimum requirements would be great to have before an upgrade is done! Thanks the migration wizard 8 supports a nw5.0 to nw6.5 migration. http://www.novell.com/documentation/migwiz80/nmw_80/data/bswlrly.html ...

Slow Migration to Netware 6 from Netware 5.1
The current environment is 2 Netware 5.1 Servers running SP5. I have a new server which I would like to install into the tree with Netware 6 or 6.5. My question is if I install Netware 6,6.5 on the new server will I have to immediately upgrade the others, or will the network be okay with a mixed environment. Things currently work very well and I dont want to be forced to do an upgrade on all the servers until I am ready. Thanks Brian Brian, Mixing 5.1 and 6.x is not a problem. Just make sure that the 5.x servers are appropriately patched prior to introduc...

Netware 5.x to Netware 6.5 migration
I have a few questions in regards to migrating Netware 5.x to Netware 6.5 server. I have 2 servers, one running 5.1 the other running 5.0, I want to consolidate those two servers into one new Netware 6.5 server on new hardware. I know I must run the migration wizard for the one server, but do I have to run the migration wizard twice, i.e. on both 5.x servers, or can I simply migrate one server and copy the data from the other server without migrating the nds objects? Also, the data on one server is to much to do a migration wizard over the weekend, slow data transfer, so can I mig...
