Native File Access from Mac OSX -> Netware 6.5
I've been studying for weeks and am just flat out of things to try. We
are making a slow migration to macs and a bank of xserves, but I'm still
trying to get some macs to connect.
When I log on using "connect to server" (afp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) I
immediately get an authentication login screen, and I log in using known
good credentials, after a few seconds of trying to login, I get a "You
entered an invalid username or passowrd"
I was convinced that this was a plain text thing, but I've edited both
machines I am trying (one is 10.6,...Have Groupwise 5.5 on Netware 5.1 going to Netware 6.5

I just did this last week and had no problems. One key thing to note is =
that you should not upgrade your version 5.5 GWIA until AFTER all of your =
MTA's & POA's are upgraded. The v6.5 MTA/POA will work with the older =
GWIA, but the older POA/MTA will not work with the new GWIA.
...Netware 5.1, Netware 5.1 SP6, Netware 5.1 SP8, Nici
I'm building a test network that is currently a mess. This network will be
used to test the migration of my 10 netware 5.1 Sp 6 servers to NW 6.5. I'm
putting two netware 5.1 servers and one MS 2003 server into the test
network. Testserver 1 is a 5.1 SP6 server with a master replica. When
installing Testserver 2 using the NW51SP6 overlay, the installation failed
with a css.nlm "waiting for xmgr" error. Consequently, I was going to create
a 5.1 server and then install the SP6 overlay or the SP6 depending on what
worked best. My NW51 original disks are scratched and...NetStorage on Netware 6.5 only salavage netware 6.5 files
Am I correct in understanding that NetStorage on Netware 6.5 Sp3 (oes)
will only let you recover deleted files on Netware 6.5 servers? When I go
to a Netware 6.0 server (I have 5 at sp4, and one at sp5), I am unable to
get properties of a folder, outside of a little bit on file size.
But, when I go to a netware 6.5 server (1 currently) I can get the tabs
and everythign related to std file system info.
Is the correct behaviour? I hope not, this is a nice tool, and would
like to use it in place of local rights to admin data (helpdesk of 6) to

I just installed netware 6.5 from nw65sp5 cd. Single bad message
was "unable to find load file dxevent.nlm". I can login into iManager or
Remote Console from browser on my work station, but when I tried Client

They are correct just becouse they works fine with iManager.
iManager uses web-based protocols (HTTP, SSL, DNS, etc.) in addition to

I have an old copy of Netware 5 that I would try out and install on a
spare computer. However, how would I go about upgrading to Netware 5.1?
Would this be something I would have to purchase, or is it something I

Purchase. An upgrade, and I suggest 6.5 in that case. SBS version if you
have less than 50 users.

We bought new hardware for our 2 new Netware 6.5 servers for cluster. Now we
've cluster on Netware 5.1 with shared disk system. I wonder what design of
upgrading is better. Is it better that i install Netware 5.1 on both new
servers and for begining make migration from NW5.1 to NW51 cluster (just
changing the hardware for servers) and the second step make inplace
migration to Netware 6.5?
Or is it better to install Netware 6.5 with latest support packs on both new
servers, prepare existing NDS tree for cluster migration, and make migration
with upgrade wizard on both ser...Netware 5.0 to Netware 6.5 eDirectory failed during eDirectory migration
Does anyone have a recommendation for fixing a failed eDirectory Acrross
the wire migration?
The file migration went fine, the backup of trustess went fine.
During the eDirectory migration when it downed the source server and tried
to finish up with the destination server it did not complete.
It told me to copy the autoexec.mig to autoexec.ncg if it did not complete.
It also had some other files to copy over as well, but I don't know what

Did first in-place upgrade in Production yesterday.
1) Install seemed to hang at the very end. Closing installation files.
(We let it set for 20 minutes and then
closed diaglog box). Then was able to restart server. Server
was not hung.
2) Can not access iManager
Do I have to recreate CA for 6.5?
My test network which has different hardware works. I will compare results.
Any suggestions on what I can try next.
Was finally able to get iManager to work.

Fair question -- I don't think they can use the same OU -- they
certainly don't use the same licenses.
You can purchase NetWare 5.0 -- discontinued.
...Netware 5 to Netware 6.5 upgrade
I am in the process of upgrading a Netware 5 server to a Netware 6.5 server
and have a few questions:
1. I would like to run both the Netware 5 and Netware 6.5 server at the same
time on the same network. (Is there a migration tool that will transfer the
data only, having different file server names?)
2. By doing the above, and having the NDS replicate to the new Netware 6.5
server, does this cause any problems? (Eventually the Netware 5.0 server
will be taken offline)
3. Is there any pdf file or technical docs on upgrading from Netware 5 to
Netware 6.5 and what the issues might be?...
