Migrate linux to linux

We want to migrate our gw7 from netware to linux but because we lack a
spliffy new server i need to move it to a temporary server first.
Thankfully we have an OES2 'test' server currently running in our production
tree with suse10 and oes2.
After we migrate the Netware server to the test server and get everything
running, is it enough to just install the agents on the real server, copy
the entire database over from test maintaining path etc, change some ip's in
the nds and hit start ?

The most difficult part should be the initial move from NetWare to Linux.
Once you've done that, moving GW from one Linux server to another
shouldn't be too difficult and for the most part your steps should handle
things. Just remember you'll also have to update UNC paths. Here are the
steps when moving from one NetWare server to another. This should help
you in your move from Linux to Linux.

Does Groupwise on Linux need NDS on Linux?
GW 7.0.1, all domains and Post Offices on NW 6.5.5 currently We are trying to set up a Linux box to live in the DMZ running GW web access and are planning to install a secondary domain, Web Access Agent and web access application but not add eDirectory or a Novell client if possible. Is this possible? We have installed SLES10 with Apache2 and Tomcat5, installed GW agents, Web Access Agent and Web Access Application but cannot configure them. Running ConsoleOne on my WinXP workstation - GW connection to primary domain - with a samba connection to the directory where I want the ...

GroupWise Migration to Linux
Not sure if this is being posted in the right category, but thought I'd start here. I am in the process of planning out migrating my GroupWise system to SLES 10. I have a GroupWise system that is made up of 4 domains each having it's own gwia and webaccess. I have built and added into my tree and new sles server. What is the best way of migrating the system over to this platform? One thought I had was creating a secondary domain on this box and migrating the post offices under my primary domain over to it. I have always heard that it is not good practice to have post offic...

Migrating from GroupWise 6 on Netware 6 to GroupWise 6.5 on Linux
I have transfer data from GroupWise 6 on Netware to GroupWise 6.5 on Linux. The data is successfully copied using dbcopy and the mailbox is accessible from both Linux and Windows clients. Great so far, but the funny thing is whenever I try to create or modify any user DN in eDirectory on Linux or the GroupWise account information that the changes are completely ignored by GroupWise. This does not happen if I were to create a Post Office from scratch. Only when I migrate the data over. It seems to me that there is a local database within GroupWise that it is not accessing the eDirectory ...

Linux Apps Installation and general linux tutorial
Hello everyone, Long time windows user trying to make the conversion to linux. I know just enough about linux to poke around and realize that I should learn more. So that leads me into my first question. Is there a general linux tutorial out there somewhere. Not the basic tutorial of "this is the KDE desktop . . .". Really more a linux administrator tutorial that teachs me the basic path structure, configuration files I should know and how to edit them, how to install and configure software, what all the services do, security issues . . . etc. I basically need...

High system load average after NCS OES/Linux cluster install (repost from n.s.o-e-s.linux.install)
Hi folks, I'm on about my 6th attempt at installing an OES/Linux SP1 cluster, and i've managed to overcome most of the issues, with the exception of this one: as soon as i configure and start NCS, the load average of my system goes from less than 1 to over 6 and sits there constantly. The CPU is 95-99% idle, so it seems that the system is creating and destroying processes constantly. I've disabled a couple of the more probable processes (ones that occasionally appear at the top of the utilization list in top): ndsd and owcimomd, but neither of these make any differenc...

dual boot windows and linux, installing linux from image
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- currently running Xp Pro on first 30gb partition of hard drive with second 30gb partition formated as NTFS(My Documents). The hard drive has unused partition space of around 20gb. Also have second internal Hard Drive with 20gb FAT32 partition with 80gb unused partition space. I had extracted openSUSE-11.2-iso to the FAT32 partition. Then I had used a virtual drive to mount the original linux.iso while running windows. The program started and ran a few commands. Then required restart. The boot now...

GroupWise 7 Linux Migration
Greetings, I am about to embark on the long task of moving us from our horribly aging GW 6.0.4 system to a shiny new GW 7 SP1 system. I would prefer to move directly from 6.0.4 to 7 SP1 on Linux. I am a little confused at the steps involved as the Novell documentation for Linux seems related to moving from GW 7 objects on NetWare to GW 7 objects on Linux (or new installs). Our system presently consists of about 10 POs and 2 domains. What would be the best migration method in this scenario? Should I install a new GW 7 domain and merge it with our existing system then move users ...

Postfix (linux) to Groupwise migration
We are currently running postfix ( big brother version of sendmail basicially ) and are doing a phased migration to Groupwise 6.5 running on Netware 6.5, as part of a firmwide hardware/software upgrade. The idea being that migrated users ( when they get there new computer ) will run groupwise while existing users stay on postfix with a netscape client. What I fathom so far is this. 1) inbound mail can be routed to GWIA which forwards deliverable mail to groupwise and undeliverable to postfix. 2) outbound mail setup so that GWIA forward SMTP to postfix which sends out through firewal...

Netware to Linux Groupwise Migration
I am trying to gather information about migrating my Groupwise to Linux. Just one question. If I install the groupwise database to the linux partition (EXT3) how will I be able to connect to it using C1 for administration or should I create an NSS volume and install the database ? Groupwise migration to Linux question
I am in the process of prepping for a GW migration to OES2. A number of my Resource and Distribution list objects have spaces in them. I know that Linux does not like spaces in things.
