GWIA 450 host down internal mail server
I never really paid too much attention to it. But I noticed more lately
that email that get does not get to the users. A lot of times it ends
deferred queue with error messages saying that the internal host is
down. We do not have a DNS internal. I tried the suggestion of the
route.cfg. It also said to take the messages that were in the old
defered queue and put the number IP address at the top of them to get
them processed rather than the domain name and put the back in the new
deferred queue. I did that and they did not get processed. It's been
about 30 minutes now.
...GWIA: 450 host down...on a host that is NOT down
i'm getting an annoying 450 host down error on my GWIA. We sent some
important emails and we didn't notice they were not going out until
later. Then we checked and we were having 450 host down on that host.
Some time ago we used to experience this very same problem, but then
stopped (couldn't say exactly what we did, since I was not in charge
communications back then)
Obviously, I did a telnet on port 25 to the mail exchanger of the
problematic domain. It was up and running.
What could be causing this behaviour? How can I solve this probl...Question on - GWIA
We are being forced to use a "centralized" message relay host due to
State mandates. So . . . most everything is working except messages
sent to comcast.net. For some reason the GWIA is trying to communicate
directly with comcast.net (220.127.116.11). Here is my configuration
(all my GW systems are GW 7.0.3 lastest service patch, NW6.5SP8 server):
PO - on its own server
PO MTA - on its own server
GWIA MTA and GWIA - on their own server
GWIA is configured to use "Relay Host for outbound messages:" -
The following is from my GWIA Log showing where ...GWIA Relay Host
During the GroupWise (6.5) Internet Agent installation it asks for the to
choose on the Relay Host scren if you want to send outbound mail directly or
use a relay host. My question is can you choose to send directly and then
later configure GW to use a relay host if one chooses to.
Thanks for all your help....I really do appreciate it.

NW65 and NDPS and Border manager
Have a XEROX printer that sends email messages to GroupWise and if they
are sent to Internal users those users get the message
But if the receipient is outside they do not get the message. GWIA sends
other messages just fine
The XEROX people want me to set up an exception under the Access Control
TAB SMTP Relay settings for mail to them this exception would look some
thing like this
From = ip address of the printer
to = Theremail id "email@example.com"
Is this the right way top do this and can I get into any problems

Can the GWIA be set to deliver all mail to a relay host WHICH REQUIRES
AUTHENTICATION? I can't see where you do that, if at all.
I am using the GWIA behind a dynamic IP address and so the ISP can't give
me a PTR record, so I can't have GWIA deliver directly to any mail servers
which do sender verification. And the ISP's outbound mail host requires
authentication so I can't use it, unless...
Any help for me?

...GWIA can recieve from a host, but not send to the same host
Ok, this sounds like a DNS problem, but I'm a little confused, this is
what is happening:
-The host I am trying to send mail to is optonline.net
-The server cannot ping this host, however, it can ping www.optonline.net
-The GWIA can RECEIVE mail from firstname.lastname@example.org, but it cannot SEND
-If I use a basic e-mail client (like MS Outlook), I can sent to
-I can type optonline.net in my browser (which uses BorderManager located
on the same server as the GWIA) and be connected to the host

I am running gw 6.5 sp4 on netware. I have gwia setup to forward all
outbound e-mail to our anti virus gateway. What I need to be able to do
is have all e-mail continue this way but e-mail to a certin domain, our
fax server. I need to be able to create a rule saying that any incoming
e-mail to gwia addressed to fax.uscky.com comes to this ip and not the
standard relay. How do I do this?

YWls...Gwia and Multiple Relay Host
We have configured the GWIA on a Netware65 cluster.
Behind the Gwia we have 2 relay hosts.
We start the Gwia with the parameter with /mh-nexthost.domain.com
The name can be resolved by round robin.
But when the GWIA has a connection with one server and that server is
goning down it will never connect to the second server. Not even when the
GWIA has been restarted.
With NSLOOKUP we got 2 ip-addresses back( tels say 18.104.22.168, 22.214.171.124) and
when we do it again the results were changed (126.96.36.199, 188.8.131.52) so round

When I telnet to the GWIA on the private side IP I get a connection
message that says
220 www.delphian.org GroupWise Internet Agent 7.0.2 HP Copyright (c)

The private side IP otherwise resolves to mail.delphian.org, which is
correct, so the local DNS seems to be working right.
"www" is actually hosted and does not resolve to a private IP. There are
no hosts entries either on the workstation or server end that define www
I can't find any GWIA setting where www.delphian.org is used.

I am running GroupWise 6.5 SP4. I have configured GWIA to prevent message
relaying, and have included a list of internal hosts in the Exceptions
List that are allowed to relay. (GWIA_object, Access Control, SMTP Relay
Settings, Prevent Relaying). This is working fine, all of the Allowed
hosts are able to relay messages to both internal and external addresses.
Now, I would like to verify that SMTP relaying is denied for any host Not
on the allow list. To do this I have configured Outlook Express on an
internal PC to use GWIA as it's SMTP server. If I send a test messag...
