uninstall gw7 client while cached, install new GW8 client
Are there any gotchas if you uninstall the GW7 client for a user that is caching, and then install the GW8.0.1 client? After reading many of the forum posts, I got the impression that we would have fewer issues with the GW 8.0.1 client if we uninstalled the GW 7 client first. We have a Zen deployment that uninstalls the GW7 client, reboots the machine, and then when the user logs back in, the GW8.0.1 client is distributed to the default path. So far so good. But all of my "upgrades" so far have been for users in online mode. I have a handful of users that are in cach...

New Groupwise Client for Mac
Novell has just released the new 6.5.2 Groupwise Client for Mac that appears to work only with OS X. You apparently need JVM 1.4.2 to get it to work which you can get from the Apple Update site for OS X. I didn't see any support on Sun's or Apple's site for older Mac Os'es like 8.6 or 9.0 for the JVM 1.42. Does anyone have any info on this. Moving Groupwise to a new system with a new Groupwise domain name
Hi, I am in the process of moving an existing GW system to a new Groupwise server. The client did not like the existing GW domain name so a new one has been created on the new server. The server name, IP address and GW domain will have different names. I have created the new GW domain in a new context (both old and new are in the same tree) with the MTA and POA and everything comes up on the new server. I have configured link configuration on each server to see each other. One problem I have is that either MTA sees the other domain as closed. I think I just need to change the I...

new mac client for GroupWise in (BETA)
Will the new mac client that is in BETA be compatible with Netware 5.0 and Groupwise 5.5 or does it only work with GroupWise 6.5 on Netware 6.0 or higher? Thanks! New Client Calendar in Groupwise 7
I really like the idea of having multiple calendars. At work we share our calendars, giving everyone in our area access to add appointments. From what I can tell: If you give proxy rights to the top calendar (default) then they can see everything from all of the calendars wether they are shared or not. If you only give rights to a new calendar without giving proxy rights then they only get the folder under the cabinet. They can no longer put your calendar in the multiple calendar view to get quick view of everyone's schedule at one time. And since it only shows as a singl...

New Cross Platform Client for GroupWise
Hi all, Just thought I post here that we'll be releasing Beta 1 of a brand new cross platform client for GroupWise in January. It runs on Windows, Linux and Mac OS x, and currently installs in a little under 500kb (Kb not Mb). The interface is entirely written in standards complient XML, and is fully customisable - right down to the icons, and toolbars. 3rd party integration and macros available through Javascript, XML and CSS. Plenty of screenshots at: http://www.redbacksystems.com Drop us a line if you want to participate on the Beta program. Cheers, Neil...

New Groupwise 6.5 Install
I have downloaded and installed an evaluation copy of Netware 6.0. I have also installed Groupwise 6.5 on that evaluation server. Everything seems to be OK as far as the server is concerned. The MTA and postoffice are up and running according to the server. I have an XP Pro client PC with ConsoleOne and the Groupwise extensions installed. From that point of view, the mail Domain and Post Office appear normal, all databases pass validation. The problem is trying to connect the Groupwise client. I first get a message that there is an invalid password, When I reenter a valid userid...

Groupwise client view needs refresh to show new email
Hi, I have several users, to the point that I think it is a universal problem, who need to use the Groupwise client View;Refresh or F5 to see their new email show up in the mailbox view. Those who run Groupwise notify tell me that Notify will tell them they have new email; but when they go to the Groupwise client, the new email is not there... until they do a refresh, or close the client and reopen the client. We are using Groupwise 6.5.3 for Client as well as domain and post offices. Over the last year I have searched the Novell Knowledgebase for info, and found nothing th...

Clean Groupwise Client upgrade
Just out of curiosity a script we've been using recently to upgrade GroupWise clients from version 7.01 & 7.03 to 8.0.1 HP1. The script first uninstalls the old version, runs cleanit and then installs the 8 version and does a reboot. Script is run during logon and while users have full admin rights on the workstation (temporarily for this upgrade). Only XP workstations (SP2 & SP3) in this situation. So far this has resulted in upgraded clients running smoothly, but I'm still waiting for appropriate feedback. What I'm curios about is how you are pushing the...
