To Gwia or not to Gwia
I have 6.5.7 that is on a 10+ years box. It's time to put it to rest -
I said but the boss does not want to spend the money - heard that
It a suite using on GW and Gwava no other products. There are worried
about email failure. So I'm trying GWAVA's Reload product. It works fine
for the backup and the disaster recovery BUT you have no Gwia. Can I set
up another Netware box with just the Gwia on it and disable the main box
so that when the system fails ( and it will) we will have a email
Also is there a license issue here...GWIA: 450 host down...on a host that is NOT down
i'm getting an annoying 450 host down error on my GWIA. We sent some
important emails and we didn't notice they were not going out until
later. Then we checked and we were having 450 host down on that host.
Some time ago we used to experience this very same problem, but then
stopped (couldn't say exactly what we did, since I was not in charge
communications back then)
Obviously, I did a telnet on port 25 to the mail exchanger of the
problematic domain. It was up and running.
What could be causing this behaviour? How can I solve this probl...GWIA 450 host down internal mail server
I never really paid too much attention to it. But I noticed more lately
that email that get does not get to the users. A lot of times it ends
deferred queue with error messages saying that the internal host is
down. We do not have a DNS internal. I tried the suggestion of the
route.cfg. It also said to take the messages that were in the old
defered queue and put the number IP address at the top of them to get
them processed rather than the domain name and put the back in the new
deferred queue. I did that and they did not get processed. It's been
about 30 minutes now.
...GWIA running on SLES
We are running GWIA on our SLES10 server.
On inspecting logs we see that almost every email sent to external
email address the GWIA reports the following, 450 Host Down:

Ok, this sounds like a DNS problem, but I'm a little confused, this is
what is happening:
-The host I am trying to send mail to is optonline.net
-The server cannot ping this host, however, it can ping www.optonline.net
-The GWIA can RECEIVE mail from email@example.com, but it cannot SEND
-If I use a basic e-mail client (like MS Outlook), I can sent to
-I can type optonline.net in my browser (which uses BorderManager located
on the same server as the GWIA) and be connected to the host
-I tried sending and receiving mail to us...GWIA 55EP2 and GWIA 6x Differences
I am reading the Groupwise upgrade guide, as we are planning to upgrade
from GW 55EP2 to GW 6.x. In there, it mentions that we may not want to
upgrade right away to a 6.x GWIA, especially if we support POP3 or IMAP
clients. And it seems to indicate that the GroupWise post offices now
talk directly to a 6.x GWIA, while a 5.x GWIA always communicates through
the MTA. Can someone explain to me the differences in the GWIA's so we
can deploy our GW upgrade without surprises? We have a single GroupWise
domain, Single GWIA, Single MTA, and 8 post offices distributed on ...using other mail clients to send mail via GWIA Out

Upgraded GWIA to 7.0.2 from 6, also moved from Netware server to Windows
2003 server. Inbound mail is fine. On outbound messages, we are getting
"76c MSG 24 Error: Fatal error processing message" followed by "390
Groupwise link recovery successful." A little later: "390 The agent has
failed repeatedly on an outgoing message." then "390 Path not found Error,

This is probably a stupid question, but I'm going to ask it anyway....
We recently converted over to Google Apps for our email (Not my decision). I
still have the Groupwise box running because of some printer/scanners that I
have that connot do secure smtp session to Google. The problem I have is if
something is scanned from one of these printers and sent out via email to an
internal recipient, it is going into the old Groupwise mail boxes. Is there
a way to force all sent mail to be delivered to the new emil system? It
seems to me I made a mistake a few years back in the link...GWIA Sending !!! Mail
I have just installed my GroupWise 6.5 system and the GWIA is coming

I'm getting 450 host down errors from one particular site.
I've used the gwip and tested the mx connectivity and it does connect, but very slowly. I can alos connect froma workstation, again, the response time back from the foreign server is slow.
Is there a GWIA setting/timeout that controls how long the GWIA should wait before declaring the host down with a 450 error?
ConsoleOne, GWIA object, SMTP/MIME, Timeouts.

Recently I noticed a lot of Host Down instances according to the stats
on the GWIA web interface. With 3 days of uptime the numbers were 216
"sent" email and 560 "host down".
Further checks revealed this sort of error in the logs:
