Slow login into Windows GroupWise Client without Netware Client installed

Hi,

Customers GroupWise version is GroupWise 7.02HP1a with GroupWise 702 Agent
Hot Patch 2 Rev 1 SP2 installed on a Netware 6.5 SP6 Server. The users
don't have access to the Netware filesystem (no Netware cient, cifs or
anything else).

The login needs nearly a minute after entering the login credentials. I
tried to remove the sdd - same problem. Although I know GroupWise 7 supports
a restore area without direct file access I removed the postoffice from the
member list of the restore area - same problem. Maybe I have to reboot the
poa after doing that?

I cross-checked with login to Groupwise on a workstation with netware client
installed and logged in to netware. Now the login is pretty fast.

Thank You for any ideas.

Got a Restore area defined for that user, located on a NetWare Server, where the POA
doesn't have the rights to perhaps ?

Sorry for delayed answering but it took me time to find my posting because I
accedentally posted in the wrong subfolder. ;-)

Yes there is a restore area defined on the same server as the poa resists
and restoring from that area works too.

Try for a short test to remove that users membership to the restore area....

Also...does the POA object have rights to the Restore Area Filesystem ?

Hi Tommy,
after weekend the login is really fast. What occurs on weekend is:
- running scheduled content check on postoffice
- scheduled dbcopy postoffice content to restore area
So I cannot be sure if it was a problem with the postoffice database or the
restore area.

This is checked but the users are never connected to eDirectory.

I hope, the problem is solved for good.
Thank you very much for helping!

Client login slow on 7 client
In the last few days, we have experienced slow login to Groupwise using th 7.0 client. The web access works fine and 6.5 clients seem to login fine. It is only the 7.0 client. We installed SP1 for the client and it did not reslove the problem. The server had not changed and the poa/mta etc had not changed. Disk space on the server is fine. It can take up to 6 minutes for the client to login. We are on a LAN that is all local. subnet does not matter (same subnet as the mail server or different). Systems are running XP and 2000. Slow login with GroupWise Client and WebAccess
We have a GroupWise 6.5 installation with SP5 applied to all agents. On one of the post offices a few users have longer periods of time gaining access to the client interface and web interface. It appears that the lag may be during the authentication process which is via LDAP. There are approximately 500+ users on the post office yet only 6 or so are having this issue. As mentioned, this lag happens via WebAccess or the Windows client so it is difficult to pin point the problem, especially since its not a global problem with the PO or any other PO in the GroupWise domain. ...

Slow GroupWise client login for a user?
Hi, We have a user here who has recently noticed the time it takes for GroupWise to open has increased. Sure enough, if I login as myself, GroupWise client opens in around 5 seconds. Using the users login ID, it is taking 20 seconds. The users mailbox is <200MB and mine is in excess of 800MB, so it can't be anything to do with size. Where do I start with this one? Groupwise Client with 2nd Imap or POP3 Client
I have a customer running GW6 on a nw6 server. Their email/webmail is working great. A few of them have email address from another non groupwise server. I set up a second pop3 account to go to a folder that I created(also tried to send it to the inbox.) Groupwise shows that is downloading messages 1/5 or however many, but I can not find them anywhere. The log shows that it downloaded everything. On the same note the other server also runs imap. I can set up a Imap account, it will show me the header with a little half envelope beside them. I can not get it to open the ent...

We connect client- server only for gw client. But it's taking GW much longer to connect to the server than before. I have both ip and ipx loaded on the server. With the client upgrade, I removed ipx and installed ip only. I have re-added nwlink and no change. I may try updated ip stack on server, but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this issue with nw client 4.90. ...

I am trying to install the GW 7 client on an XP SP2 desktop that previously had Microsoft Outlook 2003 as its primary email client. If I install Groupwise on this machine, it installs fine but the Address Book does not function properly.
