Any ideas or "how'to'do's"...?

We got this scenario;

today, client's running a network with 1 tree
with 3 office's in the cities.

Network is 5.0, 5.1 and 1 new 6.0 server.

This WAN is created through a framerelay service
from an ISP.

What we will do now shortly is to move the communication from
the frame relay to 1 local BM server on each site and create a network

through the VPN instead.

Both the new line's and the old frame relay will be available at the
same time for a short period before the old frame relay is to be
disconnected.

Each office have at least 1 more server then the new, coming BM server

What I need to sort out is how to approach this the best way,
is it just " set up the new BM server on each site, making sure that
they work site-site VPN ok and then move the existing servers from the

old line to the new config by simpy changing the default gateway on
each server...??

Any tip's or questions that I've missed..??

THanks,

This is exactly what my company did. The only other thing besides
changing the default gateway on the server behind NBM I did was
disable
RIP so it would not see the route across the leased line.

Actually, I put them all in separate trees when we moved to VPN so I
wouldn't be dependant upon DS replication. It can be done but I
wouldn't do it unless the Internet links are reliable and fast. If
you
have a fairly small network it would be worth it, IMHO, give the
remotes their own tree.

Thanks again,

It is a small tree, approx 120 users total devided on 3 offices,
all lines are 2Mbit each, and usually quite stable....

Thanks again,

Lasse

Suggestion on the replication.

We opted to keep it one tree, but create a partion for each office.
That
way, we could manage from one place, but the replication stayed local.

They were each tied to the root of the tree with a replica of the root
at
each site, but the root replica was empty of objects.

Hope this helps!

Wired's Vista "Do's" Have Some Major "Don'ts"
Wired has an article up about how to speed up Vista. While they have a couple OK tips in there, there are a couple of suggestions that caught my attention as colossally BAD. I tried to edit the wiki page to reflect this, but I was rebuffed by the original author. Replace(txt,"'","''") in code-behind
i'm creating a file named client.vb using my wordpad. I'm using this as a code-behind sort of thing. The problem is I want to remove the ' from my strings so that i can put them in SQL statements. The Replace doesn't work, is there any other way to this. thanks. Can you show me the code sample you have for the string.Replace() method? That should work for you. You should instead use Sql Parameters to compile and send your query to the db. One of the many benefits of doing so is that you don't need to worry about the single quotes.-- daver True. Steve Jobs: Google's 'Don't Be Evil' motto is "bullshit"
Keeping in tradition with what happened after the release of the original iPhone, Steve Jobs held a meeting at the Town Hall in Cupertino following the release of the iPad, in order for employees to ask questions about the company and the new device. There has been much debate over the lack of Flash on the iPad, so as you'd expect, that was a strong talking point during the meeting, in addition to some less positive words about Apple's current ally, Google . http://www.neowin.net/news/steve-jobs-google039s-039don039t-be-evil039-motto-is-quotbullshitquot -- "If U kn...

Should FxOS's "select all" really be docshell's "select all" (which tries to select everything in the document)?
The specs on https://bugzil.la/1023688 (specifically https://bug1023688.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=8548761 which of the two is the one that discusses "select all") don't directly address the issue of containment for non-editable areas. Our implementation, as I trace it, ends up invoking do_selectAll on the docshell which tries to select *everything* editable in the entire page. This came to my attention while looking at https://bugzil.la/1152172 which is an email bug where select all was selecting both the selectable content on the current message rea...
