RE: Newbie: DBD::mysql error connecting to mysql

Looks like your version of DBD::mysql is one version too old. You should
upgrade. Try perl -MCPAN -e 'install "DBD::mysql"'

Subject: Newbie: DBD::mysql error connecting to mysql

I'm new to Bugzilla, Apache, mysql, and perl (whew) and am trying to get
Bugzilla 2.18 up and running... I've been banging my head on a problem for a
few hours and seem to be stuck...

I am at the point where checksetup.pl runs cleanly. I can connect to the
system from a browser on a client workstation and get the initial Bugzilla
screen without errors. When I navigate to some of the other screens, such
as "Enter a new bug report" I am faced with a "Software Error" that seems to
indicate perl is having trouble connecting to mysql.

Any help is appreciated!

Tom

Thanks for the reply. Got it figured out.... The source of the problem was
not in DBD::mysql. It turned out to be an SELinux configuration problem.

RE: buffer allocation bug in DBD::mysql leading to failures (was:DBD::mysql mysql_server_prepare=1 caching of statement handles)
I found this thread when testing an update to an old patch I had pending and came across the same issue. Having looked into to I believe I have a fix so wanted to link people to the pull request so it can get some more testing. Currently Travis is failing tests due to a persevered memory leak on connect for two out of the six versions of perl set to test, so as noted on the pull request I'm guessing these either false positives or pre-existing issues. Here's the link, any feedback would be appreciated: https://github.com/perl5-dbi/DBD-mysql/pull/31 Regards ...

MySQL ERROR 2013 (HY000): Lost connection to MySQL server
I am having a time trying to resolve this issue. It appears to be a bug with the version of MySQL that is included with SLES 11sp1 but support told me they don't support it.
