Seamonkey?

On my desktop I use Thunderbird and Firefox and am quite happy with
them. Recently I read "something" about Seamonkey.

Would Seamonkey be any improvement?

Now, on the other hand, on my laptop I'm still using Netscape 7.2--and
have many many e-mail folders there.

Again which would be the best to transfer to? Seamonkey or
Thunderbird/Firefox?

Thanks
Mahl

Seamonkey is browser and mail in the same application (and composer and chat
if you want them).
FF + TB are the same but separate.
I use Seamonkey, because I'm comfortable with it. It might use less
resources, but I am not convinced, and don't much care.
It doesn't crash (touch wood) so the argument for keeping them separate does
not hold.
If you use Netscape, it will be familiar, because it does not have a Home
button on the main toolbar, but you can put one there.
It seems to be kept alive by a group of enthusiastic professionals, but it's
development is as close to FF & TB as it is possible to be.
Neither system has convinced me that it is 'better' than the other.

if you're happy with it, then stick with FF & TB

If you're happy with the Net 7.2 layout, then change to SM. SM will
pick up your Net profile without problems.

if you've tried out SM on the laptop, then you can make the decission
of what to do

Having problems with "Threads with Unread" in mozilla.support.seamonkey on news.mozilla.org in SeaMonkey v1.06.
Hello, I seem to have found another problem after uninstalling Mozilla v1.7.13 (kept my profiles and did not delete my Mozilla folder/directory to copy the extensions and plugins) and installing SeaMonkey v1.06 last night in Windows XP Pro. A way to reorder the mail/news accounts in Mozilla Mail ?
I have many email accounts, mostly due to using temporary email addresses. Each listserv/news server I belong to could have its own account, and I use some more than others, so I would love to be able to just drag those to the top of the list. For instance, I have had this address for my news.mozilla.org nntp account for better than a year but never felt the need to post anything; since you are all doing such a wonderful job! ;-) Many thanks! Who's monkeying with the mozilla.support.seamonkey: record in my news.mozilla.com.rc file?
Every several months something corrupts the contents of the mozilla.support.seamonkey: record in the news.mozilla.com.rc file of my SM profile. All of a sudden, all of the unread articles in the newsgroup are marked as read. This happens in between news reading sessions. i.e. when I connect to the server the next time, the number of unread articles reported has dropped from whatever it was when I ended the previous reading session, down to only the number of new articles that have just arrived. If I open the .rc file with an editor, the record for the newsgroup has been modified to s...

transporting settings/emails from mozilla-mail to mozilla-mail
Hallo, I've got a really, really big problem. I'm working with mozilla-mail on an Linux OS for about 2 or 3 years. Two months ago my harddisk crashed. To keep on working , I set up a new Linux OS with the new mozilla-mail. Now the harddisk is repaired. I could reach my mails and setings (filter, accounts...) of the last 2 or 3 Years again, if I knew how to import these information from the old system into the new system. Help needed, because I'm without any e-mail-address of the last 2 or 3 years. Thanks Karsten ...

When is Seamonkey going to fix its Mail and News?
I've been prevented from using Seamonkey because of the problems with the mail and news part of the suite. These have been known about for a year or more and still aren't fixed. Meanwhile Seamonkey keeps releasing new versions -- all broken. I just tried the latest nightly build, and problems are still there. This time, for no reason, periodically, the unread groups on my list of newsgroups erases itself of messages. It just dumps them! A group may have a hundred unread messages, and suddenly, blink, it's empty. I'm sticking with Mozilla 1.7.12 which has newsgr...

Backing up and restoring Mozilla mail and news
Hi, I am currently evaluating Mozilla with a view to moving all my browsing, mail and news activities to it. I am wondering how I would go about backing up my mozilla mail database and settings prior to having to reinstall windows. I notice that there is a load of mozilla related files in my c:\Documents and Settings\Kevin\Application Data\Mozilla folder. So is it just a case of backing up this folder, reinstall windows, reinstall mozilla and then restore this folder? There seems to be nothing in the online help related to this. Thanks Kevin kv158@nospamhere.icqmail.com r...
