Embedding video in Mozilla and I.E.

I was interested by the post of lvaro G. Vicario on the way to
vizualize video inside the web page.
I have tried the solution he proposes and the conclusions are :
- With I.E. both following code works well
<embed src="data/video1.wmv" type="video/x-ms-wmv" width="320"
height="240"></embed>
(I was using that code).
or
<embed type="application/x-mplayer2" width="320" height="240"
src="data/video1.wmv"></embed>

- With Mozilla 1.6 , none of these codes works (I only see the WMP
window with commands but nothing is active). If I look at the error
message it says "Le format n'est pas pris en charge" i.e. It seems to do
not recognize the file.

My system is XP Pro/I.E. 6/ Mozilla 1.6/ Window Media Player 9.

If anybody has a good way to vizualize wmv videos inside web page, I
will be very intested as it is for a teaching project in an university
and the Computer Center recently decides to adopt only Mozilla on their
machines !

The careful reading of the given "Object" page don't give me any working
solution !
I can include my <embed... tag inside an <object>.... tag, it works the
same with I.E. but not with Mozilla.

Any working example is needed .

Thanks for the links.
I will read that carefully. In fact, even I am not a true specialist of
web developpment (I am a teacher) I have some notions for that and I
succeded to put videos on the web pages inside <object> tags both for
I.E. and Mozilla. The problem is that for I.E., I must have .wmv files
and for Mozilla .mov files. So I have to create each time 2 different
files of the same video (more time, more space etc...
I was looking for a unique solution.
Thanks for Microsoft and Apple war !
Best regards

You probably need to have a plugin that supports and declares to support
these mime types. Type about:plugins in your Gecko browser location bar
(Mozilla, Firefox or whatever) and check that point. I particularly have
this:

Windows Media Player Plug-in Dynamic Link Library
File name: npdsplay.dll

Thanks for the answer.
I have the file npdsplay.dll in my Mozilla/Plugins folder.
But I get only the frame of WMP (not active) and when I look at the
error message of WMP, it says that it doesn't know the format of the file ?
Have you some code working with both I.E. and Mozilla ?
For the moment I use a javascript for routing towards I.E. or Mozilla
specific folders with (.wmv for I.E.) and (.mov for Mozilla) but it is
too complicated and need two versions of each movie !

Finally, the best results come with RealMedia format. Both browsers I.E.
and Mozilla work well with the RealPlayer and the size of videos are
very small.

Surely you can view either format in both browsers? Why the need for
duplication?

Since 2 weeks the Campus machines can't use I.E. but Mozilla; for
security problems the use of MS I.E. and Outlook Express mail program is
forbidden); So I was looking for a solution which allows both types of
browser (Mozilla + I.E. for students outside of the Campus).
It seems to me that RealPlayer files are convenient and as an evidence
in the final solution there will be one instance of the videos !
Thanks for interest.
