news.mozilla.org: reading new newsgroups failed, reason "501 no such list available"

Has anyone been seeing the error:

news.mozilla.org: reading new newsgroups failed, reason "501 no such

I am using leafnode to access news.mozilla.org.

I got that once earlier this week, but haven't seen it since. Might
have been a burp on one of the servers or something.

"mail" and "newsgroups" no longer listed under "tools" menu
Hello, As of April 30th I can no longer access my cache of received and sent e-mails that existed in "mail" under the "tools" menu in the main browser window of mozilla ff. The item "newsgroups" is also missing from the "tools" menu. I can still access my incomming e-mail messages from my Comcast Webmail e-mail account but I can no longer access the e-mails sent or received on or before April 30th as they were accessed through the main browser window by clicking "tools" and then "mail". How can I recover this information? Where di...

"News" about a new "privacy threat" from CNET
http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1005-200-6333967.html?tag=tp_pr This one really made me laugh. What's the big, new threat to privacy out there now? Instant messaging clients that can *save copies of IM chats!* Oooo...now there's something new and frightening... ;) How is this "news" exactly? Beats me... Let's see; ICQ, as even this article points out, has had its automatic "History" logging function since the very first version (and yes, I have ICQ logs that go back several years, to go with my lovely seven-digit UIN ;) Oh, and I have IRC logs that date...

Get "Mail"/"Get "News" / "Write"/"Post" buttons?
If the "Get Mail" button text changed to "Get News", and "Write" changed to "Post" when TB's in the news-reading mode, it would save me and probably others from constantly forgetting to make the change before proceeding. :-) Or is there an extension to do this which I don't know about? A new "news" newsgroup for grc.spinrite
Everyone, Since the first pre-release of SpinRite 6.0, I have fallen several hundred messages behind in the main grc.spinrite.dev group ... and I must imagine that there are many others who are no longer able to read every posting. I am spending full time working to catch up, but while doing this I have encountered the need to make a posting that will have a higher chance of being read by those who want to keep up and read important notes. So, I have created a new "news" group which, as with any grc groups ending in ".news", I am the only person able to ...

On converting "new" to "new(std::nothrow)"
This post is following up on discussions in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353144 where it was suggested to post in the newsgroups to attract more attention to the problem and discuss possible solutions more in the open. (Most) code in the Mozilla project is written under the assumption that the C++ operators new and new[] return NULL on failure (when memory allocation fails). This is actually not the case, or at least not for GCC compiled code. What happens is that the bad_alloc exception is thrown. As this is never checked for in the code this will lead to crashe...

Configuring "OS", "Priority", and "Severity" lists
I'm trying to change the values used in a few of the select menus for new and existing bugs. As I understand it, the tables "bug_severity", "op_sys", and "priority" contain possible values for these menus. Each has a column "isactive" that is set to "1" for each value. I assumed that changing this column to "0" would remove the value from the select list without having to remove the entire value from the database. For example, if we are no longer tracking issues for Mac OS 7.x, we could just set those records in the op_...

.ALLCOL("%COLUMN%", " ", ", ", ", ")
Do you know anyway for me to exclude a subset of columns returned by this function. We have two columns (rec_user and rec_datetime) which are in all of our tables, but when generating triggers I want automatically generate a script which does not include those two columns but does include all other columns in that table. Bruce I should add that I am using PD 9.0.0.580. Precedence of "where" ("of", "is", "will")?
Nobody on #perl6 today could answer this one. Is: Str | Int where { $_ } the same as: (Str | Int) where { $_ } or: Str | (Int where { $_ }) ? Followup questions, Mr. President: What kind of operators are "where", "of", "is", and "will"? Is there a reason that S03 doesn't list them? What are their precedence(s)? -- Chip Salzenberg - a.k.a. - <chip@pobox.com> Open Source is not an excuse to write fun code then leave the actual work to others. Chip Salzenberg writes: &...

Bugzilla "Top 100 bugs" / "New bugs" list too small
Name: Philip Chalmers Email: philipchalmers_at_blueyonder.co.uk Product: Other (please state) Summary: Bugzilla "Top 100 bugs" / "New bugs" list too small Comments: In the Bugzilla "report a bug procedure, you sensibly ask users to check for duplicates in several ways, including checking the "Top 100 bugs" and "New bugs" lists. Unfortunately Bugzilla displays these lists in a scrollable box (? iframe) which is far too short at 800x600px (my eyesight's poor) only about 3 bugs are listed at a time. This makes quick scanning diffi...

"Unit" testing versus "Integration" testing, which am I actually doing?
I read a brief article by Nick Hodges recently where he was describing the difference between unit and integration testing, but it leaves me with a couple of small queries about when unit becomes integration. I have developed a fairly large suite of tests for each of my Delphi units, a few are simple function libraries which just perform custom string manipulations, formatting, mathematical operations etc. They don't actually "use" anything else that I wrote, so the units are the lowest level code. Tests of these libraries are obviously "unit" tests. Some are simp...
