upgrade lightning when it is deactivated because of version mismatch

lightning is deactivated because it does not match my current TB version.

How do I upgrade? I set its upgrade option to yes (from standard), but that does not help - probably because it is deactivatted.

Do I have to totally deinstall it?

Thanks,

Klaus

It did install in another (dev) profile.

So I deinstalled it in 52.8.0. Now it does not reinstall.
The automatic download in add on manager worked, but the bar is stuck at ca. 5%.

What is your current TB version and what version of Lightning does not
match?

This bug comment may help.

"Immediate fix: Remove the manually installed one, then reset the pref
extensions.installedDistroAddon.{e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103}
and restart TB.

The distributed add-on will then come back."

The easiest way would be uninstall Thunderbird, and install a fresh copy
from the Mozilla site. With a fresh install, what ever was preventing
the reinstall will be reset, and things will work as they should.

As with anything you should back up your profile, as there is a remote
chance the it could be corrupted. But since everyone does that
routinely there should be no problem.

If in trying to fix the old installation you have accidentally deleted
the folder Calendar-data from the profile, you can copy it form a back
up or from and other computer that has your calendar data.

That may work.

It is hard giving support when the poster doesn't mention what versions
of TB and Lightning aren't playing nice and we have to guess.

With his recent corruption of his production profile for TB 52.8.0 after
playing around with upgrading TB 60.0b2 to TB 60.0b8. I went with he was
trying to remove Lightning 6.2 and install Lightning 5.4.8.

I have no idea how they corrupted their profile and I'm not going to try
and reproduce. I suspect they "Allowed" the application to make changes
to Windows 10 when first installing 60.0b2.

I have never had that happen when upgrading a previous beta, to the
latest beta, when testing release candidates before they become official
releases.
