run profile manager as user or root on linux?

should i be running profile manager as root or user; doens't seem to matter either way accounts don't load, there's no local folders options to set under preferences->account settings

[Profile0]
Name=default
IsRelative=1
Path=4csz6bkp.default

[Profile1]
Name=fugee
IsRelative=0
Path=/home/fugee/data/12345.fugee
Default=1

Always as user.  Root is also a user so you'd be setting up for
 root and have no access for any other users.  Each user had his
 own profile, so root's profile is irrelevant to other users.
