SeaMonkey 2.22.1 linux 64+ Lightning

Crossposted to mozilla.support.calendar & mozilla.support.seamonkey:

SM 2.22.1 (linux 64) has broken lightning. Anyone know which one works now?
User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/25.0 SeaMonkey/2.22.1
Build identifier: 20131113180743
Lightning	2.7b1	true	{e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103}

So far I've tried 2.6.1, 2.6.2, 2.7b1:

<https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/lightning/versions/?page=1#version-2.7b1>
and
<https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/calendar/lightning/nightly/2.7b1-candidates/build1/linux-x86_64/>

Note: works in windows SM 2.22.1 - I've not tested in linux 32 yet.

This one works with Thunderbird 24.1.1 which just updated, and I had to
go searching for a Lightning that works.

Thanks Walt, but that one doesn't work for me with SeaMonkey 2.22.1.

It does work for me with Thunderbird 24.1.1 though:

Thanks, but it's kind of a mute point if Lightning isn't working:

<quote>
This add-on requires the following add-ons to work properly:

Thanks for the tip though & I'll give it a spin later on.

Unfortunately none seem to work for me, either, and haven't for a while. I have
considered dropping back to 32 bit Seamonkey, but that just requires keeping
current 32 bit libs up to date, serious hassle. Still on SM 2.17.2 on 64 bit
machines.

This install is a VM used for support of RHEL-6 servers, so runs an old SM, but
everything else is as up-to-date as will run.

It doesn't work in 32bit either (see where I changed the subject line by
removing '64'.

I've filed a bug report:

I do not use lightning but have now enabled building it in my new build
of SM trunk. This is the result:

----- application.ini -----
[App]
Vendor=Mozilla
Name=Lightning
Version=3.0a1
BuildID=20131120221822
---------------

Maybe, it would work for my SM 2.25a1. Unfortunately it requires

----- application.ini -----
[Gecko]
MinVersion=28.0a1
MaxVersion=28.0a1
---------------

so it is not suitable for you.

?? Hartmut, have you tried to install your local nightly trunk Lightning
build into your local nightly trunk SM ? I don't think it can even work
in the nightly!

For Phil Chee, Dominique and myself, who've reported it to Philipp
Kewisch via mozilla.dev.apps.calendar (message<Re: TypeError:
this.tree.view is undefined Source file:
chrome://calendar/content/calendar-unifinder.js>), Lightning's been
breaking Modern theme's Messaging tabs folders and data (blank tab),
even though the calendar functions are unaffected.

Hartmut, like many other SeaMonkey users, I too, build from trunk-source
(x86_64), and I have tested my local trunk-build Lightning in my local
trunk-build SeaMonkey almost every night, and the result is the same as
the other builders.
Good idea though!

There is one known bug that breaks initialization of the Thunderbird
main window. Might be possible that it breaks SeaMonkey too. Could you
try one the patches that are attached to Bug 931492?

Many thanks Stefan,
Will try as soon as I get my comm-central building again! (Broken
comm-central builds last night and again today!)

Plain text editing the diff works like a charm! Full SeaMonkey Messaging
services are back!
Attachment #8335554: bug931492 patched into my file:
lightning-3.0a1.en-US.linux-x86_64/chrome/calendar/content/calendar/calendar-extract.js)
without using Philipp's extra recommendation to the patch
<https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=931492#c9> restores
Messaging to trunk SeaMonkey. Many thanks (I didn't try the patch,

calendarExtract.addListeners.bind(calendarExtract)

  on the grounds of - if it ain't broke, don't fix it!).

When starting SeaMonkey 2, SeaMonkey 1.1.13 is run
I installled SeaMonkey 2.a1 next to 1.1.13 All was well and pushing the 2.a1 short cut started SeaMonkey 2 At this moment the quick launch wasn't active (Windows) After reboot when the quick load is active, pushing the 2.a1 short cut starts 1.1.13 Even going to the 2.a1 install directory and pushing the SeaMonkey exe of 2.a1 starts 1.1.13. Seamonkey dictionary (was: Seamonkey 1.1.12 tarball distribution for linux)
For each new Seamonkey release I need to manually copy most of the content of <seamonkey-root>/dictionaries from the prior release. I'm using more dictionaries than 'en-US coming' with each new Seamonkey release I haven't been able to find documentation on alternate locations of dictionary stuff outside the seamonkey directory tree. [linux] SeaMonkey 2.1 Alpha 2 install extentions
OK, I give up. How do I install an .xpi in 2.1a2? Previously there was an 'Install' button that I could then use to browse to a folder and install the xpi. In 2.1a2 I can't find the same. SeaMonkey 2.1
An increasing number of features are diverging between Gecko 1.9.2 and Gecko 1.9.3; this gives us a number of options, with pros and cons for each, but please don't consider this an exhaustive list. 1. Stick with 1.9.2 for now, don't use 1.9.3 features at all * Pro: We know what features we have to port * Con: Lots of catching up on trunk after comm-central forks/after releasing 2.1 2. Write code using feature detection for 1.9.3/backward compatibility for 1.9.2 * Pro: More flexible than any other option * Co...

Dropping 1.9.2, Going 1.9.3 for SeaMonkey 2.1
[re-post of http://home.kairo.at/blog/2010-02/dropping_1_9_2_going_1_9_3_for_seamonkey here in the groups/lists] I blogged on SeaMonkey 2.1 planning earlier in http://home.kairo.at/blog/2010-01/seamonkey_2_1_planning and also about the fact that we have been unsure if we should go 1.9.2 or 1.9.3 in terms of the platform there. I sent mails to the SeaMonkey Council and a few quite active developers in the last days, and asked for opinions on dropping support for 1.9.2 and going for firmly basing SeaMonkey 2.1 on Mozilla platform 1.9.3 instead. Nobody was really against th...
