Support locales Firefox is not available in
Gen's comment on <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463622> got me thinking. If support.mozilla.com is available in a locale that Firefox is not available in, does l10n detection work? If not, what's the point in offering it on support.mozilla.com? Localizing Firefox Support start page
<http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Localizing+Firefox+Support> What do you think? :-) Looks very good, thanks! One problem I noticed was the tag translation page: <http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-freetag_translate.php?locale=en-US> Its layout seems to be corrupted, with an extremely wide table which makes it difficult to align items visually, no submit button, and what seems to be a script source in the ~50 last rows... -- Ehsan <http://ehsanakhgari.org/> On Sun, Sep 14, 2008 at 12:48 PM, Chris Ilias <nmo@ilias.ca> wrote: > <http://support....

Firefox Support locale leaders, please set freetags
On support.mozilla.com, you can assign freetags (aka "Folksonomy Tags") to articles, as seen in the "Tags in This Article" sidebar box. We can now make existing freetags specific to each locale. What I need is for each locale leader on support.mozilla.com to go to <http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-freetag_translate.php>, to set the language on freetags in your language. Firefox localization and recent changes in Firefox
Most of you might already have noticed that a lot changed in Firefox since 0.8. So far there is e.g. no information how localized versions should cope with the update mechanism and how to localize new components, as e.g. Firefox Help. I filed a bug on this issue today, and I call to all translators to comment on and vote for this bug. It is: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=245831 I hope this release will also be a successful one for the localized Firefoxes! Greetings . . . Warning: locale not supported by C library, locale unchanged
Dear all, when starting a lot of X Window related programs (e.g., gv), I get the message Warning: locale not supported by C library, locale unchanged in the shell. In other programs (e.g., acroread, gimp), the message is: Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library. Using the fallback 'C' locale. Maybe as one result, the desired character set Utf8 is not used. This for example results in acroread that I cannot search for strings using Umlauts. The error message in this case is WARNING **: Error converting text from IM to UTF-8: Invalid byte sequence in...

I've checked Pootle and the only place I can find a similar string is in: Firefox for Android (Aurora) / mobile/android/base/sync_strings.dtd.po fxaccount_sign_in_button_label fxaccount_sign_in_sub_header but they are correctly translated. Also in Sync in the English there is a string 'Almost there' at the end of the verifying process. I'...
