Firefox restores when an external link loads

When I click a link in Thunderbird or some other application, Firefox
restores to the last smaller sized window, forcing me to maximize it,
again. Does anyone know of anyway to prevent this?

I can confirm - for some reason the last couple of days, FF had been
being restored from a minimized state from links in TB to a
3/4-of-the-screen sized window.
I'd never noticed this behaviour before, but surely it must have been
due to me resizing the window recently. If you stretch the unmaximized
borders all the way to the screen edge, it will remember the setting for
next time. But that's not really the point, it should restore to maximized.

It's Bug# 232959, Opened: 2004-02-03, Status: NEW.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=232959

I just voted for it..

I too noticed the annoying behaviour during the last few days (but not
before).

I wonder if it could be related to an extension update?

One problem: the window is already maximized, not minimized.

Ah, that is different then.. mine is only if I've minimized Firefox
first (from maximized).
I wonder, does it do it if you close Firefox and then start it in
Firefox -Safe-mode (link in your FF Start Menu folder) ??

Also, what happens if you (with FF maximized), you right-click on FF in
your taskbar and choose 'minimize' and then right-click again and
'maximize' ? Does it restore to maximized?

I can't tell because it doesn't do it every time.

FWIW I don't have this problem. I have set FF maximized, then minimized
it - no problem. Then set it to various sizes, minimized and clicked a
link in TB - opened in correct size. Using TB 1.5 and FF 1.5 on win XP
SP2.

I think opening FF in Safe Mode is a good idea; if that doesn't solve
it try opening both FF and TB in Safe Mode.

I *always* run maximized. Whenever I hit a link in Thunderbird (which is how I get virtually all my links), Firefox pops to the front *restored* and I have to click the widget to maximize it again. Forcing Firefox to Open Email Links In Firefox
First, this is not a problem with making Firefox my default browser. It is. I have been using IE but recently switched to Firefox because I run Win98, and IE has lots of security problems. But with IE, in Tools >Options > Programs, I could assign a certain email program to open automatically when i clicked an email link in a Web site. I use Web mail; my email domain, sbcglobal.net, uses AT&T Yahoo Mail, which is actually just Yahoo Mail. So in IE I specfied AT&T Yahoo Mail. When I clicked an email link, another IE window opened to a Yahoo Mail compose screen. Firefo...

Firefox within Firefox
For a short time now (likely since upgrading to FF 1.5.02) I've noticed that when running a Firefox session, ZA will popup a notice that Firefox -- verified the same exe as the running one -- is "trying to access the internet." This is confusing because it's already accessing the internet, thanks much. However, the destination IP is always along the lines of 206.141.192.60:DNS, which translates to dns1.chcgil.sbcglobal.net, part of my ISP. So I've been saying yes. But I'm wondering why of a sudden this access is taking place, or being questioned, or what...
