Firefox 2.0.0.10 closes automatically to install update to 2.0.0.11

Hi,

who on earth implemented this stupid thing that Firefox 2.0.0.10 closes
automatically without any warning to install an update to 2.0.0.11. I
might appreciate an automatic update feature but I hate that an update
is done without any user pre-warning. I can not accept that Firefox
shutdowns itself to install an update. I was just accessing my mailbox
to write an email and this was gone due to the unexpected shutdown.

Please avoid such stupid things in future!

Stefan

Why don't you do that yourself, instead of whining about "stupid things"
that don't really exist:

Tools, Options, Advanced, Update: There you can change things so that
they work the way you want them to.

In the future, if you don't like the way something is working in FF, try
asking about it first, unless you prefer to be petulant.

No Stefan its even worse than that. Yes it closes automatically to
install the new update, and then I lost all my bookmarks but for a
random 1% and then when I went looking for the Bookmark Backups there
were no such files.
I am so fucking pissed off man you don't want to be a Mozilla employee
round me at the moment.

Yeh John? Why don't you tell me where all my Bookmarks went? Why don't
you tell me why the update deleted all my backups as well?

Hi John,

I am just complaining that FF closes automatically without any chance of
a user invention. That has happened for the first time!!! Before that,
FF always asked me whether I want to install an update NOW or LATER. For
unknown reason, that does not happened for the update from 2.0.0.10 to
2.0.0.11. FF simply "decided" for itself to do it. And that's stupid in
my eyes...

It would be a problem if that happened. Having just autoupdated on a
Windows XP machine, I did get the prompt about whether or not to
restart now. I think the 'restart now' option was highlighted by
default. Is it possible you were typing when it came up and hit enter
at that point?
