Mozilla Calendar - shared calendar howto?

I've recently started using Mozilla Calendar, and so far the features
and user interface are almost exactly what I want... but (maybe) not
quite.

I use a hosted mail-server to keep my email in one central place -
but access it from a number of different computers. IMAP is already
configured and secured with a VPN, but I don't currently have a
secured ftp service that I can access remotely (and using FTP is all I
can find documented...)

I notice the "Remote Server URL" option when creating new
calendars... but I am unsure about the server configuration
requirements. In an ideal world all of my appointments would be stored
on the centralised server and updated seamlessly without my doing
anything special. Storing appointments on an IMAP folder would be
ideal, but webdav, or (as an absolute last resort) FTP would be
possible...

Is there a good how-to somewhere?

It's insanely simply; select "publish calendar", and enter the
path where you want to put the file on your webdav server. The
file will be saved as <path>/<calendername>.ics

Other users "subscribe" to the remote calendar by clicking
"subscribe to remote calender" and entering the path to the
file.

Here's a calendar I'm using you can subscribe to:

https://www.smart-safe-secure.com/calendar/actorsplayhouse/./calendars/balcony2.ics

Copy the URL and past it in the location window in the Subscribe dialogue.
You can't update this one without a username and password, but you can see
what I've schedule in my second stage theatre.

I like the sound of insanely simple... though, I suppose, my question
was actually about suitable DAV server setups.

I don't need to publish my diary per se, but I do care that it is
secure and available to me wherever I am. I'd want a password at the
very least, and (if I access it directly over the web, as opposed to
over a VPN) I'd want to use https.

Server-side there are many DAV-ish possibilities...

* Apache with mod_dav and mod_davfs (a howto here would be really
handy)
* Subversion behind apache (would this give me versioning on my diary
and avoid data loss if I accidentally delete something vital?)
* Zope (behind https) - allegedly zope supports native web-dav and
already has a relevant login infrastructure appropriate to restrict
access to diaries..

What DAV server setups are known to work well for calendaring purposes?

Calendar:Improving the Calendar Views
Hi! Some points for discussion concerning: http://wiki.mozilla.org/Calendar:Improving_the_Calendar_Views First of all: this locks great to me - please go forward in this direction! And thanks for this nice little ASCII arts! 1. I think its great to have just one surface, either Calendaring or Mail (including all toolbar buttons and so on) exposed at one time, and easily switch between them by just klicking one button (what will hide all non usable toolbar buttons and so on). 2. In Respect to the agreement (Toronto) that Lightning will be a Calendaring program with some...

Having a public calendar for the calendar team
Hi all, We talked about doing this before the 0.3 release, got busy and shelved the idea. Just the other day, I was asked about this on IRC, so I'm going to bring it up again. Should we have a public calendar detailing events of the Sunbird/Lightning effort? I think so. The main questions (in my mind) are: * Where should it be hosted? There was some talk of using the public Cosmo server for this at one point, we even experimented with putting one on the wiki.mozilla.org site as well. I'm certain there are many good ideas. * Who will update it? I think it should b...

Google Calendar and Gnome Calendar
Hi, I found a nice trick in gnome calendar. This calendar can be synchronized with Google's calendar. I found the explanation in the website below: 'Cagdas&#8217;s Blog Blog Archive Google Calendar & Gnome' (http://altinkaya.org/wp/linux/google-calendar-gnome/) Unfortunately, it seems to not work in openSuse 11. Someone knows how can I made the same thing in openSuse 11? The problem is the path. There is no /usr/lib/evolution-webcal in openSuse. Maybe I just have to change the path, but I didn't find anything like it. Thanks in advance for the...
