RE: Need support on bugzilla

Hi Raghu,

Thanks, we have resolved the issue.

Another customization we want like,

How to Remove 'File a Bug' button / 'New' link in the header, from a develo=
pment team member login.
Such that the user will not be able to raise any new bug.

Thanks,
Sagar

Sagar,

Sorry I missed out that the user in context is the Assignee. As Bugzilla do=
cument says: By design Assignee and QA Owner can edit all fields of a Bug. =
This was also pointed out by your friend.

I have not done this, but then you could try this way:

I would suggest, you write an extension which hooks into bug_check_can_chan=
ge_field. Search for bug_check_can_change_field inside here - http://bzr.mo=
zilla.org/bugzilla/4.2/annotate/8064/extensions/Example/Extension.pm

Your logic should be something like:

if the current user is not in 'editbugs' groups and the current user is the=
assignee, then push the constant PRIVILEGES_REQUIRED_ASSIGNEE into the pri=
v_results array.

Others please correct me if I am wrong.

Raghu,

I have checked, user only has 'CanConfirm' permission, and does not have 'E=
ditBug' privilege enabled.

Still it's not working, Can you please suggest some code level changes.

Thanks,

Sagar

Sagar,

Click on the User's Preferences and then select the Permissions tab. Please=
confirm that the user doesn't have the 'editbugs' privilege enabled.

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work.

Dear Raghu,

Let's make the issue simple, here it is:

1. We have created one user suppose X, who belongs to 'CanConfirm' group on=
ly.

2. User X does not belong to 'EditBug' Group.

3. But if we assign any defect to User X, he is able to edit all bug fields=
, which is not expected behavior.

So 'CanConfirm' group functionality is not working as it should be, rather =
'EditBug' group functionality is working, Though the user belongs only to '=
CanConfirm' group, and NOT belongs to 'EditBug' group.

Kindly suggest a solution.

Thanks,

Sagar

Subject: RE: Need support on bugzilla defect fields

Hi Raghu,

Thanks for your response.

Let me explain you the scenario in detail:

Its mentioned in the user guide that,

By default, assignees, QA owners and users with editbugs privileges can edi=
t all fields of bugs, except group restrictions (unless they are members of=
the groups they are trying to change). Bug reporters also have the ability=
to edit some fields, but in a more restrictive manner. Other users, withou=
t editbugs privileges, cannot edit bugs, except to comment and add themselv=
es to the CC list.

In our case, we need that, other users, without editbugs privileges, should=
be able to change only the 'status' and ' Assigned to' field, once the bu=
g is resolved and also should be able to 'Add Attachment ', ' additional c=
omments' and adding to CC list.

But, should not be able to change the following fields :

(Product, component, version, platform, Importance i.e Priority and Sever=
ity). Only the Assignees and QA owners should be able to edit these fields.

To meet this requirement, We are trying to modify the code bug_check_can_ch=
ange_field, but facing issue.

It will be of great help, if you can help us fixing this piece of code.

Seeking for your valuable suggestions

Regards,

Sumitra Atre.

Sumitra,

Give us more information regarding the group controls on the product and th=
e different groups the user in question is part of. By design, you cannot s=
top the Assignee from viewing bugs assigned to him. But I am not sure wheth=
er the same exists with editing Bugs.

RE: Need Support on Importing bugs to Bugzilla from excel document and mail_delivery_method setup
I was pondering this recently myself but have not got further than that. But it occurred to me that Excell provides import with DTD-based field mapping and the 'Save As Xml Data' also appears to trigger off a DTD-based field map. So I wonder if a fairly general import solution for tasks which involve transfer into Bugzilla might be to use Excel as an intermediary format Your problem would seem to need only half of that as the data is in Excel already. So maybe you need to create an Excel data map using the Bugzilla DTD and use that map when you Save as XML data in Excel....
