Permissions Problem #2

Hi,

we try to use Bugzilla 5 with the following workflow:

We have configured several products and each product has a lot of component=
s. External users must file bugs to one or two of the components, whereas i=
nternal users can file bugs for all components.

The external users should not see the internal filed bugs, and it should no=
t be possible for them to file bugs on other components.

Is it possible to configure? I can only see restrictions on product level, =
but it would extremely increase the list of products, if I would move the c=
omponents to that level.

Any ideas on that?

Thanks a lot

As you've already said, that is not easily possible, because group
security is on product level. You might be able to implement an
extension on your own to work around that limitation, but if I was
you, I would first reconsider if the workflow could be changed to use
products. You would need to implement distinguishing the components
and stuff completely on your own, would be left with no GUI to
configure things etc.

In the worst case twice as many products, but Bugzilla supports
another level of hierarchy above those, so you might simply
distinguish all products between "intern" and "extern" already.
