Need Support for Bugzilla

Hi Support Team,

To configure the Bugzilla Server, I was following the same steps as given on
the URL (http://www.bugzilla.org/docs/win32install.html). As per the
installation steps, it should create a Data folder under c:\bugzilla folder
and should generate a localconfig file under c:\bugzilla folder which is not
happening and due to which it might not linking some database files to
apache.

Can you please let me know, What should I do to resolve this problem?

Thanks & Regards

How do you expect us to be able to help you, when you haven't told us
what you are doing which doesn't work the way you expect it to?

Hi Gerv,
Thanks for replying on my mail. According to the URL
(http://www.bugzilla.org/docs/win32install.html) If we will run
checksetup.pl file, It will create a folder (i.e. Data) in C:\Bugzilla But I
am running this file and nothing is happening.

According to the URL (http://www.bugzilla.org/docs/win32install.html) I will
have to modify localconfig (File Name) file which will be presented in
C:\Bugzilla But there is no localconfig file on this location.

I am doing these configurations on Windows XP with Service Pack 2, Will it
work on these OS?

Can you please suggest any other URL which can explain Step by Step
Configuration of Bugzilla.

Thanks Gerv in Advance.

Could you please quote the text where you did read that?

"Installing Bugzilla From the TarBall"
[...]
"Extract the archive to the directory of your choice. For the
remainder of this document I will assume that you have extracted
Bugzilla into C:\Bugzilla."

"Run checksetup.pl. This will check your Perl modules and create localconfi=
g."

This assumes you already worked through the document starting at the
beginning, so you already have your C:\Bugzilla for example, in which
you can run checksetup.pl which will create the needed file.

If you didn't install Bugzilla in any directory how could you run
checksetup.pl? :-) The needed file is created in the directory in
which you run checksetup.pl, this is the Bugzilla installation
directory. C:\Bugzilla is just an example.

You keep saying "nothing is happening". Do you mean absolutely, totally
nothing? Please cut and paste the text from the console, from the point
where you run checksetup.pl to the point where it exits.

I would say this is not possible at all. ;-) How do you try to run the
program an what exactly is the current content of C:\Bugzilla?

The program will always generate some output, if you can't run it, you
get an error message with the real problem of your installation, for
example with the configuration of Perl, and so on. I can't imagine any
reason why "nothing" could really happen at all.

RE: Need Support on Importing bugs to Bugzilla from excel document and mail_delivery_method setup
I was pondering this recently myself but have not got further than that. But it occurred to me that Excell provides import with DTD-based field mapping and the 'Save As Xml Data' also appears to trigger off a DTD-based field map. So I wonder if a fairly general import solution for tasks which involve transfer into Bugzilla might be to use Excel as an intermediary format Your problem would seem to need only half of that as the data is in Excel already. So maybe you need to create an Excel data map using the Bugzilla DTD and use that map when you Save as XML data in Excel....
